Inner thigh/crotch ache normal?

Hey ladies, apologies this is a bit of a TMI question but this is my first pregnancy and I don't have any friends who have been through pregnancy yet, and my DM can't remember what it was like!
I feel like it's a bit late to be messaging my midwife about something so silly sounding, especially when it's hard to explain!!

I'm almost 20 weeks and I've been suffering quite badly with backpain, but this last week I've also now started getting what I can only describe as crotch/inner thigh/pelvis type pain - and I was just wondering if this is normal or if I need to be working on my posture 😅

Basically, and this is the TMI part - But if you were to spread your legs wide the place it's hurting is behind that thick muscle where your thighs like.. "attach" to your crotch. It almost feels like my entire lower pelvisis just ACHING and aching hard and nothing I seem to do will ease the pain.

I've tried paracetamol, a hot bath, resting more, exercising more, massaging the area (which just looks a bit wrong tbqh!😳😅) - Nothing seems to really help, but at the same time it doesn't seem like a massive issue to pester my midwife over!

Any tips/advice? What can I do to ease this awful ache?!😩 <3

Sounds like pelvic girdle pain (PGP). Say to your midwife and get referred for physio or go privately if you can.

initially it felt like I was saddle sore, you know after you’ve been in a bike for too long 😂

I left it until 30 weeks (waiting for NHS physio which never happened!) and wish I had gone private sooner.

Awh no, that sounds a lot more serious than I'd hoped! 😭
I'll message my midwife about it in the morning - thanks so much for letting me know!! ❤Flowers

The physio really helps - like you said, posture assessment etc.

I’ve had friends that had it around 20 weeks and it disappeared by 22 weeks, so try not to worry! Feet up and relax as much as you can ❤️❤️

Pelvic girdle pain can become very very bad. Get a supportive belt specifically for this issue as it will really help and hopefully stop it getting worse. See your midwife or doctor and get reading as to what causes it - to do with hormones.

Yes definitely sounds like PGP! Don’t open your legs too wide, it makes it worse! Let MW know and get support - it’s grim 😬

Tysm lovely ladies!! I've done a bit of reading up on it as per suggestions and it looks like it can be made worse with hip imbalances?
I've had horrendously flat feet all my life so I'm wondering if that's probably not helping the pain!! 😅

Uuuffff, I have a friend who used to call it pistachio fanny because it felt like you were being forced open like a shell.

Tbh I've been trying to describe it to my mum as being sat on one of these bloody machines for way too long!
