Question for you all!
I work in retail in a hardware shop(paint, house hold items, gardening, furniture ect)

How far along were you when you told work you were pregnant? My symptoms are still not bad so I haven’t said anything yet

I know for a fact my work colleague’s already know I’m pregnant tho as when I was showing one of them something on my phone a notification came up from a pregnancy app .. I didn’t say anything and neither did they and then today I left my bloody phone open on the page I have all the app!!! . What an idiot😂

From a safety perspective tell your manager straight away in order to avoid any heavy lifting. i told my manager at 8 weeks after my first midwife app
In regards to colleagues- when you feel ready. I waited till 14 weeks

If there are any duties in your role that might pose a risk (heavy lifting, chemicals) then I'd tell them asap so they can do a risk assessment.

I work an office job and had prevoous MCS So left it a bit later. Some women might decide to wait until they've passed probation or are eligible for enhanced mat pay.

I'd tell them ASAP if you are doing anything manual. I told early as felt awful and wanted to WFH, and I had a MC last year which my manager knew about, she's been very supportive.

I have my first appointment tomorrow and then I’m off work for a week so maybe I will tell them then?

Im lifting things in and out of the shop like benches and other things but have seen online that if you have been use to doing that before pregnancy (kinda like weight lifting at the gym) then you should be okay🤔

I told my boss at 7weeks mostly because she knew about my mmc last October.
I've waited though until my dating scan at 13weeks to do my risk assessment and tell hr and my work colleagues. I work in a bar and restaurant in a hotel so felt I needed them to be aware. And it is a big relief to finally tell people and not keep it a secret l, especially when I've been feeling so tired and rough and people were noticing I wasn't pulling my weight quite so much.

I told my manager really early at around 5-6 weeks because I was suffering from extreme fatigue and nausea and it was effecting my work. As you work in a hardware store I would definitely recommend telling your manager sooner rather than later so they can perform a risk assessment and make sure you’re safe.

I had my first appointment today and my 12 week scan is on the 1st May. I’m now off for a week. How the hell do I tell work now?😂 I’m just gonna have to go in and tell them but I now feel it’s gonna be really awkward.. How do I say it? lol there is only myself, my manager and another colleague that work there. They are mother and son and he’s my best friend . We are a little work family!

does my boss then tell the directing manager im pregnant or do I have to tell him?
