hi all

have had MC previously, am a bit ahem plump as well although not morbidly obese or anything, just wondered if one or the other or both of these would mean i would get earlier/more NHS scans (currently 16weeks in my area)as would put my mind at rest, or weather you have to of has several to qualify for early/more scans? TIA x

I was given early reassurance scans at 7 weeks and 9 weeks at the EPAU in my local hospital. This was because I had a miscarriage last year which meant I was admitted to hospital and \t the time, they wrote to my GP recommending that she refer me for the early scan. I would say it's worth disucssing it with your GP and see whether they will refer you. It seems to very much depend on where you live as to what support you get.

It's generally a bad idea to get a home doppler. My OB was driven nuts by them as women would go into his office in a complete panic, and the baby was just in an awkward position. Sometimes even midwives have trouble finding a heartbeat because the baby won't co-operate.
I'm really sorry that you're going through such a stressful time though. If you find a supportive midwife then you can push for extra support and visits (but not scans). You can get plenty of support on the "pregnant after miscarriage" threads, would that help?

I am overweight too and after mmc was given scans at EPU at 6wks and then every two weeks after until transferred to antenatal care

it depends very mmuch on where you live
