Anyone used a monitor to help conceive. Desperate opinions required

I managed to conceive but had a MC at 8w and 15w. Now I would like to buy an onvulation monitor, but are looking for any opinions as to which one may be better.

I hoped that someone on this side would have any information as a graduate of the conception threads.

Regards

Hi Twinklewishes
Sorry for your losses. I know how tough MC can be. I also had two MC's. I am currently 17 wks preg. I didn't use an ovulation monitor but the ovulation sticks. I bought them from accessdiagnostics.com but I know they are on ebay as well.
Hope someone can give you info on the monitor soon.
Take care and all the best x

Thanks. I am really stuggling to find any more details. I am so desperate not to miss any chances. I do not live in England and it is really hard to get any information or find anything to buy where I live. It may be that I have to just order something and try it out. I am so unsure of doing that though.

hi I used a monitor called persona which is for contraception. used it the other way though obviously. I got pg in first month, have now lent it to a friend who also got pg in first month. Had been trying for 18 months though lost a baby during that time also. it's 60 or 70 pounds but you get enough sticks for one month with it.

I think Clearblue also do a monitor where you can buy sticks to test for ovulation.
Maybe try posting this on the Conception part of Mumsnet. Good luck!

Hi Twinkle, I am sorry for your losses, I had a mc too at 12 weeks, which was my third baby and I was desperate to fall again. I used the Clearblue fertility monitor which I bought off ebay as it was much cheaper than full price (think I paid about £65). It worked very well but did not get me pregnant!! It's great to work out the days building up to ovluation, gives you about 3 days before ovulation so you can maximise your chances by 'doing the deed' early so as to catch the egg. I think I got completely obsessive about it all and it took 2 years to fall pregnant again and that was when I threw everything away and we went on holiday to France and it rained alot!! I do think they are good buy, better than the sticks as they just tell you the one day you ovulate which kind of puts pressure on you to be active on that particular day, not very spontaneous. At least with the monitor I knew that if we managed it anytime in the next 4 or so days we had a good chance. Good luck and let us know!

Sorry for your losses. A friend lent me her Clearblue Fertility monitor and I fell pregnant the first month I used it. I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks, and decided to use it again as soon as I'd had my period (it tells you not to use after loss until you've had 2 periods), really not expecting it to work for quite a while. It worked straight away again and Im now 14 weeks. I'd definitely recommend it! I agree with Janus that it's good to have a slightly longer window of opportunity, rather than feeling under pressure to DTD that minute! Another friend bought hers from Ebay quite cheap, and you'd definitely be able to sell it on once it's done the trick. The sticks cost about £20 a pack, but I would say it's money well spent.
Good luck!!
