I just cooked a "thin" cut sirloin steak from sauinsburys till it looked basically burnt I even cut it up onto smaller pieces and left for few more minutes total time I looked for was for about 10 minutes,
but I got half way through and it was really tender, and then with my flash it looked pink in some areas so now im worried
I have a midwife app tomorrow should I mention this im 31 weeks

There will be no issue whatsoever from eating pink steak.

I've had rare steak probably close to twenty times since being pregnant and have been fine

I had total brain fog at about 31 weeks and went for tapas - ate loads of cold cured meats. I panicked about it and told my midwife and she (very kindly) suppressed a laugh and just said you’ll be fine. And it was all fine! I think in reality the likelihood of it causing a problem is infinitely small, especially in the U.K. with our food hygiene standards.

Honestly you’ll be fine.

Don’t worry about it.

By all means tell your midwife, as she can tell you that as a professional!

OP if I could go back in time to when I was pregnant I'd try not to google anything for 9 months, no good can come of it! If you're very worried then call the midwife - I called mine for all sorts of reasons - but you will be absolutely fine.

I felt the same but honestly I really don’t think you need to worry. You could mention it when you next see your midwife just to put your mind at ease. Congratulations on your pregnancy and try to enjoy the last few weeks before your little one arrives 😊

(Most harmful) Bacteria need air. The middle of a steak doesn't have air so that can't breed. Avoid undercooked minced/reformed etc products, rind matured soft cheeses, liver incl pate, old/slightly off seafood and you'll be fine. Congratulations by the way!FlowersFlowers

You can also eat cold cured meats if you pop them in the freezer for a bit first.

Why would you go against guidelines? The risk of toxoplasmosis is small (especially in the OP’s case) but I’m curious to know why you would do that?

I actually didn't even know it was a guideline, so wasn't actively going against anything. I don't have mine leaking blood, but it's definitely pink. I had a large bleed at 14 weeks so was told by my midwife to up my red meat intake for iron but she didn't mention about not having it pink

Oh I see, it sounded like you were throwing caution to the wind. I hope everything is okay now x

@User79853257976 no haha, more that I'd eaten it regularly and hadn't realised it was an advised against food until this thread! Knew about the pate and cold meats etc which I've been avoiding, will just keep the steak in the pan for a bit longer for the remainder of the pregnancy! All fine though and no issues caused because of it, as you say risk is low so likely fine but for 9 months a well done steak is a good alternative option.
Sounds like yours was well cooked op I'm sure it's absolutely fine!
