Hello

So we have just started TTC (last week!) Although we have been speaking about babies since before we got married various things got in the way until now... and after a quick google it looked like I was ovulating last week sooooo...

Anyway this is all a bit frightening (I was never all that bothered about having kids until I met my now husband) and honestly all I can think about is the negatives.... I don't really want to lose bladder control! And as someone who struggles already with self image I am concerned about weight gain etc BUT I am trying to stay positive and do feel a little excited as well as scared.

I also have PCOS (though I do have a fairly regular cycle) and am currently 37 years old so I am aware that it is likely to take a little longer to conceive. husband had mumps as a child too and I know that can cause problems but looks like we need to try for 6 months before we can seek any help. I have such a nervous feeling tummy today and I don't know why - guess it is because I am beginning to read up on what is to come if we are lucky enough to conceive soon.

Anyway not a set question as such but I would love to hear some advice, hints, experiences of conceiving with PCOS anything really. I am trying to get as much research and info as possible (I am very much a planner/overthinker/like to read and write lists for everything) :)

my advice is don't plan, over think or research :) you can know too much. I have plenty of friends with PCOS who have got pregnant, sometimes just took a bit longer. A year is normal for couples with no issues anyway. Focus on what you can control like lifestyle improvements (no alcohol or smoking, healthy diet, exercise) and don't let it take over your life.

Thank you for replying. I am bad for over thinking and over planning. I was told that while it is usually a year once over 35 you can see a Dr after 6 months if nothing has happened. Luckily don't smoke and have stopped drinking (never drank much anyway) but trying to keep doing regular exercise and eat healthily and start looking into what vitamins and supplements I should be taking :)

This, times a million. You’re going to drive yourself mad like this. You’ve barely even started ttc, it could take a month, it could take a year but it’s definitely best to at least try to have a more relaxed attitude to this, especially at the start.
I have pcos, it took me 18 months + to get pregnant with my son, and we’ve been ttc #2 for 2 years and nothing yet. It’s not easy at all but it is what it is. I’m definitely glad I forced chose not to go into it with too many expectations and too much pressure!
Best of luck, I hope it doesn’t take too long!

I'd say as above, don't get yourself worked into a state (that doesn't help either!). I have friends too with PCOS who didn't suffer any issues.

Agnus castus is worth investigating, it's also called Vitex, it helps with PCOS and general fertility issues / cycle issues

Bladder issues can be solved, but never heard any of my friends with any issues. Weight wise, if you're able to, just eat healthy, you'll be hungrier but have healthy snacks, lots of people do lose the weight they gained .... must of my friends (not me tho 🥺)
Good luck and
