I'm 7+6 pregnant from my most recent frozen cycle of IVF and had an early viability scan a few days ago. They gave me bad news that its not going to be viable and I can stop taking my progesterone. They took a blood test and sent me on my way.

Obviously I was devastated about this and went home and grieved etc but then the next morning I had a phone call from my clinic saying they were concerned my HCG levels were very high and to go to local EPU as in at risk of an ectopic.

The nurse at the EpU scanned me and said there is definitely a pregnancy in my uterus it's all in the correct place so definitely not ectopic however I'm measuring roughly 5 weeks not 7.5 like in supposed to be... But the way they were talking they didn't seem like it was bad news she just said sometimes this happens which is why we will scan you in another week and said it's all still very early to tell.

So why am I getting two different opinions on this pregnancy? One saying they're not concerned at this point and the other basically telling me it's all over.

Has anyone else got any similar stories? I'm very confused and 6 more days feels like a long wait!

The EPU weren’t saying it’s ok, they’re saying they cant tell you for sure yet - it’s quite common to have to wait a week and go back, to see if there’s been growth. Hope it turns out ok

Oh I know they weren't saying all is ok but they arnt ruling it out completely yet like my clinic have done which is what I find confusing

Unfortunately a 2 week difference when you're certain of your dates due to it being IVF is not going to be a viable pregnancy, hence them telling you to stop your meds. They wouldn't tell you this unless they were certainly I think your clinic were being pragmatic and EPU a bit more gentle, but both are essentially saying the same. EPU may well have a protocol that says they have to do 2 scans at least x number of days apart to confirm. I'm really sorry, it must be devastating. Take the time you need and I hope you have success again soon.
