First trimester test anxiety

After miscarriages last year, I'm pregnant (super early) and so worried something will go wrong. I'm on medication etc re recurrent miscarriage but still so worried each time I test.

I'm about 16dpo, and tests are darkening well which is good. Silly question but do I stop testing? Did you stop testing at a certain stage and find it helpful?

I feel like the outcome of this pregnancy is completely on me, the pressure is real and I'm trying to stay positive but with previous losses, it's really difficult.

If anyone has any advice, it would be appreciated x

Congratulations @T2024 I understand the worry, I’m pregnant after a loss last year. I personally found testing lots unhelpful. As I had irregular periods I did a few of the cheap ones until they got darker as I found out super early. Then I did one clear blue which showed 2-3wks, and then I didn’t do any others.
I know it’s difficult, but testing doesn’t affect any sort of outcome, it will just make the anxiety worse.
Wishing you all the best for this pregnancy!

I did stick tests for a few days until they got dark, then I did digitals twice as I wanted to see the “3+ weeks”. Nothing after that. Testing doesn’t give you an indication of whether you’ll have a miscarriage later on. I had a MC last year and currently 16 weeks.
your comment “feel like the outcome of this pregnancy is completely on me, the pressure is real” made me feel really sad. You cannot do anything about the outcome of the pregnancy apart from what you’re already doing (take the medication). It’s beyond your control. Please try and stop feeling any pressure, and if anyone is doing anything to make you feel pressure; please make them stop. If you’re struggling I’d really suggest counselling , it’s helped me so much after my MC, and really got me in the right headspace for having another pregnancy

@Figtree11 congratulations on your pregnancy, wishing you the best for your journey too ❤

You're right, I'm finding the testing is making the anxiety of it all worse yet I'm compelled to do it to double check the line darkness 🙈. I think I'll stop testing as it's not helping, I'll see if I can hold out haha.

@Rosesanddaisies1 congratulations on your pregnancy, wishing you all the best too. Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it.

Definitely need to remind myself that I'm doing all I can, medication wise and you're completely right, I don't have any control over the outcome - that's a good way of looking at it ☺️

It's a horribly anxious time and I really feel for you, I was in your shoes a few months ago-30 weeks now and all good.
Early scans helped me to relax- they aren't for everyone but we had one at 6 weeks and another at 8 weeks.

@JRTfan congratulations on your pregnancy, hope it continues to go smoothly ☺️ yeah it's such a difficult few weeks, think I'll book a 6/7week scan once I get past 5ish weeks. Have to think positively lol

Aw congratulations on your pregnancy ♥️

i was the same, I hadn’t suffered any losses but had a termination young and I’ve just always been terrified that it would affect me somehow when I was pregnant again. I tested morning and night from about 9dpo til I got my 3+ on a digital. Then I felt I could relax. Probably still did the odd cheapie after that if I’m being honest!

As harsh as it may sound aswell, whether you test or not will not affect if the pregnancy sticks or not. It will only reassure you until it doesn’t anymore. If you can stop and find it easier to relax rather than worrying about darkness of tests etc you might get on better but I know I couldn’t have done that, there’s no harm in testing as long as you’re coping okay xx

Thanks so much @Jaggy1, I contemplated getting the clear blue weeks tests but haven't, so I'm not testing at all from now which is helping.

You're right, I shouldn't be worrying over the darkness of a line, it'll either continue or not, I think I have to be matter of fact with me.
