Probably being over sensitive but i realised i havent taken my pregnacare for a few days (thiking no folic acid). Also yesterday had a massive argument with dh. Really bad and got myself worked up in bit of a state. Then he went off out in a strop leaving me with ds and someone off ebay coming to pick up a sofa bed i sold and i started trying to shift it round the room and get it into the hall. I got really hot and my heart started racing really fast. I dont have any pain or bleeding but a bit worried about the baby..

I am sure that the baby will be fine.

Re: the pregnacare - if you take it, fine, but if you forget, it is not going to damage the baby irreparibly. re: the stress of arguing with dh - I suspect that if you had that level of stress for the whole 9 months it wouldn't be great, but as a one off, it will be fine.

re: moving the sofa. Don't do it again. (but try not to worry about it now)

Agree with Squonk.

No folic acid for a couple of days - shouldn't be a problem.

DO NOT try to shift heavy stuff.

Arguments are the stuff of pregnancy when emotions tend to run high (not just you, your loved ones too). Try to counteract with relaxation time for you NOT MOVING FURNITURE.

All over the less developed world pregnant women do hard physical work all day everyday and their babies are fine (though other factors make their early infancy more dangerous than here) - in comparison moving your sofa is a relatively minor physical effort.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

fryalot · 30/03/2008 13:05

I think that they tell you not to move heavy stuff because they don't want you damaging your tummy muscles, which are going to come under some stress with having a baby inside.

I am sure you haven't done any damage, but if you are really concerned, have a chat with your midwife and see what she says.

How far gone are you?

Have a look at this page by a doctor - I think you will be reassured.

oh gosh i hope not.
this sounds like my life

franke · 30/03/2008 13:09

I meant to say you won't have done any harm with trying to move the sofa, but please don't overstretch yourself. I'm 34 weeks and any kind of physical activity makes me very breathless - it doesn't harm the baby it harms me and it makes me ache all over.

mad4mybaby · 30/03/2008 13:10

am only 6 weeks so obviously not getting any feedback from it yet how it is feeling!

I was very careful in pregnancy number one with regard to lifting things - in pregnancy number 2 it all went by the wayside as I had this heavy toddler to lug about. I think you should be fine. Don't worry about the pregnacare - I was always a bit hit and miss with it.

popsycal · 30/03/2008 13:11

I really would not worry at ALL if you are only 6 weeks

mad4mybaby · 30/03/2008 13:13

thanks guys

I really wouldn't worry, I did all the things you have done, in fact didn't take folic acid for 1st 5 weeks as didn't know I was preggers, also had some bad arguments and moved house during pregnancy. I listened to hypnotherapy cd's towards the end everyday which helped me relax, maybe you could do something like that if you're worried about stress?
My baby is fine, very content and healthy - check the pics
