Work being unreasonable?

I'm 25 weeks and have decided to take mat leave from 29 weeks, leaving at 28 with annual leave.

I've been diagnosed severe spd and instead of going off sick, I agreed with hr I could work from home until I leave.

My local office where I usually work are putting pressure on me to cover appointments, I'm an estate agent and they want me to do viewings and stuff, but I'm in so much pain I can barely sit let alone walk.

I don't know what to do to be honest, I feel pressured which is effecting my mental health. I dunno whether to talk to hr again; or allow my gp to sign me off until I leave, which would leave them short still but I don't feel is necessarily unfair seeing as they are pressuring me to put my health and wellbeing to the side for the sake of the job

Don't know if it matters but I won't be going back there post mat leave.

Any advice or suggestions would really be appreciated!

If you’re not going back anyway just say no.
it doesn’t really matter how much pressure they put on you. Just keep saying no, you have an agreement with hr. You’re at home, you’re not in an office or dealing with them face to face, just say no and let it go, not your problem.
speak to hr again if you feel you need to, and they’re supportive.
check if you get signed off if that effects when your mat leave starts?

Hi Op,
I work in HR and I wouldn't be very happy to hear that someone who has been advised to work from home is being pressured by their line manager to go out on appointments when they aren't supposed to.
Definitely speak to HR again as I'm assuming the working from home arrangement has been put in place as a reasonable adjustment? Have you seen occupational health?

Go back to HR. Don't know if you get sick pay but I assume it's not the same as your salary anyway. Don't disadvantage yourself financially because they are dicks!

Go back to HR, and if you would be paid in full just get signed off sick - which you are!

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 10/04/2024 14:47

Can you financially cope with being signed off early or just leaving early - if you are in so much pain just sitting I think you and baby need to be your priority so get signed off. No job is worth it!!

You don’t want your or baby to be stressed so let HR know they are being dicks but get signed off - baby needs to cook as long as possible ( I had a premmie so trust me you want to avoid it if you can )

I'd get the first week paid if I was sick and the second would be ssp, it shouldn't effect my mat leave as the company policy says sick in the 4 weeks before your EDD. It's really difficult because I know they're struggling but I do feel like I need this time at home, I can't be walking up and down stairs nor sitting in an office chair or driving around, it's difficult enough getting comfortable at home. I'm so conflicted as I know they won't be happy and it sends my anxiety through the roof!

i would check what your mat policy is regarding not returning to work as some places will make you pay the money back if you dont return
