Hi ladies

probably you have seen me post many times on here
anyway I have been testing positive for a week, but today my period came and tests are negative. Which is a chemical pregnancy

what do I do now?
do I just leave it ?
do I contact a doctor or my GP?
i have a gynae appointment end of the month should I wait till then?

I would like the chemical pregnancy to be on file, as I have had my ovary removed in February and a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks in January, so if I need future help would want it all there. But not sure who the best person is to contact as I know they probably cannot help me now at all if I am testing negative ? Thanks

I had a chemical pregnancy a few years ago. It was only noted on file as I had a blood test as I was unwell. The blood test showed very small rise in hcg. I was then late but negative tests and a less than a week late I had the heaviest and most painful period id ever had. The gp said it was most likely chemical and as long as I wasn’t feverish and the bleeding eased off then there was sadly nothing they could/ would do.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. You could speak to your gp and helpfully they will record it for you.

So sorry you've experienced this OP. I had a spontaneous early MC 10 days after my period was due last summer. I called the GP and asked them to record it as I'd had a previous loss before my DS was born and I wanted it on my medical record, in case of future investigations. The GP will be the person to make any referrals to recurrent MC/fertility clinic so I thought they needed to know. Hope that helps.

Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I’d contact your GP to see what they suggest, and that way it will be on your file then. I’m also worried about a chemical pregnancy, if it’s not too traumatic for you would it be possible to see your line progression tests please? I’ve also been through a chemical with my first pregnancy but only took 1 test so couldn’t compare and recently had a MMC.

Hey. Sure I’ll share the test
my last period was 10 March and my cycles typically last 29 to 31 days
I tested positive on Tuesday 2nd and tested all week and it was staying positive but no progressing

looks like my period came today which is a 31 day cycle

this would still be classed as a chemical pregnancy right? As I didn’t exactly miss my period

in photos the strip tests are from Tuesday and Wednesday last week
the other tests are Saturday Sunday and Monday
I done a test now and it is negative x

Thank you for the advice. Above I posted a photo of my test. So I was testing positive but my period was not exactly late. This is still a chemical pregnancy right ? X

You can inform your GP if you wish to but there is no further action for a chemical needed. X

Technically it is a chemical as there was a rise in HcG to get a positive test, however when I was having fertility treatment they wouldn't confirm a chemical without a blood test and only 14dpo or later so I think you may struggle to get it formally documented. That said, given your history I think it would be reasonable to go and have a chat with your gp and ask them how they would recommend moving forward given your history. Perhaps if you were in a similar situation in the future and you get an early positive you could book in for a blood test on the day your period is due so that it's officially documented. From a physical perspective you don't need to do anything unless you feel ill. I'm so sorry that things haven't worked out this time.....it's a really tough journey.

Yes this is also the case with our GP, they don’t just accept a home pregnancy test as proof of chemical x

Thanks for explaining love. I have an appointment with my Gynae on 26th this month. She knows all about my history as she was the one who decided to remove my ovary so maybe I will just wait till then to explain to her what’s happened ? I don’t want to go to GP for no reason if that makes sense x
