Back to back labour again?

Currently 16 weeks pregnant with my second and wondering what the chances are of having back to back labour again? And how i can avoid it?

It was absolutely traumatising for me giving birth to my son is 2020. The pain with each contraction made me spine feel like it was going to snap so I was unable to breath through contractions or use gas and air as it made the pain worse. I had to freeze stiff in the spot I was in and not move until the contraction had stopped. An epidural didn't even stop the pain completely. I have no idea what "normal' labour feels like in comparison but if the pain is anything like what I experienced then I'm thinking of a c section.

I have no idea of the statistics but can pass on my own experience.
My DD was back to back and whilst I didn't experience the same pain as you, it was a difficult birth. Fast forward 4 years and my DS birth was completely different - very quick and without issue and although painful, it was a much easier birth.
Good luck though with whatever you choose!

My first in 2019 was back to back, I was exactly the same as you and it's the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. Her birth ended in me having a third degree tear and 2 hours in surgery.
I had my second last year and we waited right until the last minute to see what was going to happen, she was back to back for my whole third trimester and when I went to my 36 week appointment we decided not to risk it again and booked a section. As it happened on the day on my section she was still back to back so I'm glad we went with the section in the end.
My c section experience was absolutely lovely compared to my natural birth, so calm and controlled. we're done having babies now but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I had back to back with my first and was desperate to avoid it again. A website called spinning babies has lots of exercises to encourage good positioning prior to labour. I did them religiously with my other pregnancies and all quick easy labours.

10 natural births. Dc 5 and 7 back to back. All the rest very quick /quick labours..

All four of my births so far have been back to back. Not sure why (always wondered if it was because of a retroverted uterus). For me it meant longer labours, but the pain was the worst when I had a large baby no4 (she was 9ib 11oz). The other births were painful but not to that extent.

My yoga teacher always talks about starting to encourage the right position by doing things like bouncing on a ball, sitting upright and watching to on all fours. I hope this time it will work and it might be a quicker birth.
