Hi everyone,
Im 29 wks pg with baby two - and having a bit of a freak out and feeling incredible mum guilt!
went to a country park with our toddler today and my partner and 2yo fed the animals….I didn’t actually feed or touch any of them and have washed my hands thoroughly (several times) - as have my partner and son. But now I still can’t help but freak out about it - I thought if I stayed away and didn’t do it myself I’d be ok, am I over reacting? There didn’t even look to be any baby animals there, or if they were they were at least a few months old. Any advice to help put my mind at ease welcome!!

There’s nothing for you to worry about
if you didn’t touch or feed any animals you basically went for a walk

You'll be fine....it's close contact with pregnant and lambing ewes that's the risk.

Hi Bella,
I’ve basically just posted the same story as you! I’m 26 weeks pregnant and took my 2 year old to a farm today. I didn’t stroke any lambs but felt sick with worry once I saw the pregnant women warning sign. From
what I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot today!) we
only should be worried about the fluid associated with birthing of livestock, after birth etc.
If we didn’t stroke them, and we washed our hands, we should be ok xxx

Thank you everyone! I thought it was probably fine…but started googling and threw myself into a frenzy.

@Charlie0809 sorry I missed your thread - but it’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy :)

I am a farmer - it is contact with new born lambs and pregnant ewes you need to avoid - you are fine.

@User1979289 Can I ask, if I have done a similar thing today but I was in a barn with the lambs and sheep, will that be ok do you think? I didn’t touch them.

WhatTheFuckIsThat · 06/04/2024 18:03

You're panicking over nothing. You will be perfectly ok.
