private ultrasound scan told me the wrong gender

I had a gender scan at an ultrasound direct clinic at 16 weeks and was told a boy, but at my 20 week nhs scan today they said it’s a girl???? Has this happened to anyone else??

I have no idea what to believe, I mean I’m sure the first scan was wrong (too early??) but I still don’t believe it! The private clinic have apologised and are doing a rescan for free on Sunday and will give us a refund for the original scan if they are wrong.

in such a state of shock lol I’m happy either way as I have a 15 month old boy and would be happy for him to have a brother or sister

Many years ago (early 90's) I owned a baby clothes & nursery shop.

People would come in saying they'd been told boy or girl and would buy quite a bit of blue/pink stuff (ignoring the & other unisex options) despite suggestions to get neutral newborn items.

on a fairly regular basis they'd be back asking if they could swap!!

I had a policy (they were told when buying) that if it was still in original packaging they could swap value for value. But if it was opened, they could return for x% less (can't remember what it was now) as I had a section of used clothing I was happy to put it in.

Some people were fine about the mistake & soon got their heads around it, others were devastated & it was so sad. (Mostly when they'd lost a child previous and had a strong preference this time around).

At least you're happy with either option.

update - it is definitely a girl! They were very apologetic and are giving me a refund 😊
