Hi all I'm looking to buy a next to me crib for when baby comes but can not make up my mind , has anyone any recommendations? I was going to get the mama and papa Lu's crib but really didn't like it when I tried it in the store the side seems to be very hard to get up and down when pressing the button. And seen a video review of the cover air that it tilts with baby in it once the side is unzipped.

We went for a Snuzpod. Easy to attach to the bed and has zip to lower the side. It is quite big for our teeny room though.

We used the Tutti Bambini Cozee I think it was called. It’s fairly light and can adjust each side to lift up and down etc.
We really liked it

We had a chicco next to me. Eldest loved it, youngest hated it! I wouldn't spend too much, just in case you find you have a koala baby.

We have the chicco next to me crib and both mine have slept well in it. Oldest was in it until 6 months when she went in her own room. Youngest is still sleeping in there at 4 months x

Have you got space to just put a cot in your room? X

We were fortunately gifted the Chicco next to me crib. It’s pretty good - easy to assemble, easy to put the side down, it rocks which is handy. Baby was only in it for 8 weeks though as he ended up sleeping better in the big cot!

We also had tutti bambini cozee and were happy with it. We left the side up and just leant in to pick up DC, but equally you could have it down as a next to me. Really easy to fold down and take away with you as well.

I don’t mean to hijack op, but I was wondering how you know if the crib you’re buying is safe and suitable?
I’ve seen one at Argos for example that’s only £80 it looks just as good as the ones mentioned here, but it’s half the price - is there a catch then and something I’m not thinking of?

I have the M&P Lua, my eight month old is just about to graduate out of it. I mostly liked it with a couple of reservations. It looks lovely and is really well made. I didn't like the button at first but when you learn the knack of how to do it, it's a good feature - the lowering and return mechanism is good to help you lower a sleeping baby quietly. As a crib it is easy to put up and down and pack away, we haven't had to buy a separate travel cot yet as we've taken it with us. I liked the fact it didn't need to strap to the bed which would be difficult with our bed, and we could have moved it around the house in the day if we wanted to (we didn't).

My main reservation is that the side when lowered is not flush with the base of the cot so you either have both mattresses level and have to lift baby over a lip, or you have the side level with your mattress and you have to lower baby down lower than your bed. Both were quite tricky after a c section.

The other thing I didn't like is that I bought the recommended M&P mattress protector and it's a bit too small, so the corners of the mattress curl up and don't fill the cot but this would be easy to avoid by buying another protector.

I like it enough that I'm hanging onto it for potential second baby but I think buying again I'd be tempted to see if there's a better option.

We have the Maxi Cosi Omni Breeze which came recommended to us. Got it second hand off Facebook. Baby isn’t here yet so can’t comment on that but it was really easy to put together, there’s a basket underneath for storage and it seems quite spacious (which could be viewed as an advantage or disadvantage if you wanted more of a Moses basket size)

We got the chicco next to me, baby slept well in it from 3 weeks old until 8 months old. Then he moved into his own room and cot.

He initially slept in the carrycot, he found it cosier and more enclosed to start but transitioned quickly. We stayed away from the Moses due to friends saying it might only be 3-4 months of use.
