SPD / PGP does it go away after birth?

So I don't know if its definitely spd. But I'm basically immobile every morning for about 2 hours then again in the evening. It's like my body has turned to stone. Very stiff, physically can't catch my two year old so I've been avoiding taking him anywhere with dangers.

I wouldn't say it's "pain" it's just extreme stiffness. Like someone has tightened up my hips and pelvis so tight that I can't move.

I'm praying it disappears after birth but I'm having a c section so can imagine recovery will be tough like it was with my first.

I did have this stiffness with my first but I thought it was "Normal pregnancy" until I saw no other pregnant woman walking the way I do !

I had SPD when I was pregnant, but I had different symptoms to yours. I had the pubic bone pain at night when turning over which got progressively worse in the third trimester when it became very difficult to walk at all.

I’m 4 months post partum now, after a c section and while the pain went away during the day it remains still there at night, but definitely getting better. I think these things can just take a lot of time but I’ve heard that many women are SPD pain free from the moment they’ve given birth, hopefully you will be one of them!

Hi
not the same as you but I had carpel tunnel in my hands very bad during the third trimester to the point that I would wake up in the night with my hands completely paralysed with some of my fingers ‘stuck’ in a bent position. It literally disappeared as soon as I gave birth.

I'm over two years pp and my pelvis at the back is still in bits. I've been told though that it's incredibly rare for it to remain after pregnancy

If you haven't already I personally recommend you contact your maternity physio at the hospital. IME you need to then ask to continue past the first workshop to get regular treatment. If you can also pay for it, regular pregnancy massage might help if you can get a recommendation locally. Received wisdom is that it disappears with birth which is what usually happens I think but as you can see from replies this isn't always the case. Building up strength to support the pelvic area, reducing stress in supporting areas and having physio already in place is what I would recommend.

I mean building up strength with support from physio

I had awful pain in my hip joints, and they clicked too. Getting in and out of bed, rolling over, getting in and out of the car, walking...all really painful. It magically disappeared as soon as I gave birth!

I had SPD when pregnant with my son, it went away after he was born. Didn't have it when pregnant with my daughters.

I had SPD in my last pregnancy, I remember a midwife had to help me waddle to the shower after birth as I was in so much pain from the SPD and felt so stiff, but it soon went away afterwards. SPD has started even earlier in this pregnancy 😣 you have my sympathy, pregnancy can be a rough old ride for some of us

My youngest is 6 and my hips are still not quite what they were. It has been a slow road for me

please get a physio referral, it will help. Unfortunately mine never went away I’ve had it for 13 years now started in pregnancy number one and although what I experience when not pregnant is nowhere near as bad as during pregnancy it’s not gone away.
