Double pram for newborn and 18m old

Hi there

Any advice on a double pram for a newborn and 18 m old? I would ideally like one where both can we parent facing, world facing or one of each at a time- not sure if that's a thing?

Already discounted the ickle bubba as the wheels are just too small for my dog walking locations 😭

Thanks in advance x

I have a newborn and a 19 month old and have the out and about nipper double. I’ve bought the carry cot attachment for my newborn. So far it’s been great, not too heavy, fits in boot of car and is great for going out walks with the dog as it’s more of a walking pram. My toddler loves being close to the baby and the carry cot attachment is quite cosy.

@Hiddenvoice thank you for your reply! Can the toddler be parent facing in this one? I assume the carry cot attachment means you could have baby parent facing? X x

The Out and about Nipper. Amazing pram! Goes everywhere (we live rually), loads of storage, fitted through all the doors. Not parent facing, but when the newborn was lying down i could see them through the mesh and smile and chat so it worked great for us.

Total warhorse, it took us through 4 children, many outings, then was passed on to cousins (so look secondhand!)

My toddler isn’t parent facing but she loves to face outwards. I can see my newborn easily with the carry cot attachment. It’s also very reasonably priced compared to lots of double prams!
As a pp said, there’s loads of storage, some of which is very handy hidden pockets so I don’t always need a bag if just taking the dog out.
I can fit through all the doorframes in my house with ease and hasn’t been a problem when shopping.

I am also interested in this, as I will have a 17 month old with a newborn later this year! Currently using the Babyzen which I love due to how light and easy it is to manoeuvre and fold etc- used this one with my firstborn too. I saw Babyzen do attachments to create a double pushchair- one in front of the other, so narrow- but am wondering about alternatives…

It’s only world facing but I cannot recommend the out n about 360 anymore. It’s so light you can push it one handed and it fits through most standard doors. It isn’t really any wider than standard single buggy

I have a bugaboo donkey duo & it has been fab. Mine were newborn and 16 months old and I also had a buggy board/seat attached for my almost 4 year old.

it comes with carry cots so tiny baby can lay flat comfortably and facing you and then also older baby seats. So my toddler used to face outwards whilst bub was in carrycot facing me. Then we moved to baby facing me in bigger seat and toddler still facing outwards and now they both face outwards.

It’s the size of a wheelchair so fits through all doors.

Would highly recommend 🙂

I had a Phil n teds double with a similar age gap and it was fab!!!

We just world faced, was pretty good as dd1 liked being next to her dsis. It was a double reclining buggy, brand much superseded but like this

I also had the single one that dd2 could stand on the back bar of (not proper buggy board) for short trips.

Friends had a baby jogger I borrowed a couple of times for specific occasions but I found it too bulky and heavy for every day use

A less popular option but we had a very narrow garden gate and DD (20m when her brother was born) was 90th centile and I was worried that any side by sides would either not fit through the gate or not have space for her to grow. I also wanted a proper carrycot for DS rather than a lie flat after a DD who only slept when being moved!

We went for an iCandy Orange and no regrets at all. They can both be parent facing, and we’re still using it for 20m DS as a single so it’s more than paid for itself. The carrycot is also certified for overnight sleep so we didn’t have to buy a second travel cot for visiting family.

We had the smaller out n about, it was great. By 18 months neither of mine wanted to parent face. We didn't bother with the carry cot, DC2 was perfectly happy lying flat in the buggy seat. Friends said the carry cot was tiny and they didn't get long out of it.

I think the bugaboo and mountain buggy doubles do what you want but they'll be pricey.

I adore my vista as a single but it was shit as a double, struggled to get it to turn. Only used it as a double a handful of times.

I've read (and witnessed others having great experiences) with the bugaboo donkey. If my oldest was younger I would be going for this instead of the fox. It's pretty pricey but I know in my area there's several in great condition on Facebook marketplace!
