9 weeks and starting to struggle

Hi,

my DS is 9 weeks old. Up until last week I would say I was coping pretty well. I am EBF and he liked to be fed pretty much every 2 hours. Would sleep 3-4 hours then settle quickly back to sleep. He would also nap in the day

However this last week things have been pretty tough. He is constantly wanting to be fed pretty much as soon as I put him down he’s crying to be fed again. Also every time I have put him in his crib he wakes up and cries so I have to start over again with settling him whereas previously if I got him to sleep on me I could then put him in the crib and he would stay asleep. He is also waking up at 3am which he has always done but instead of going back to sleep like he used to that is pretty much him awake for the day then. The day naps have also stopped, if he falls asleep it’s for about 15 mins then he’s awake again. I’m finding hard to do anything I even had to take him to the toilet with me as he wouldn’t settle! I’m not complaining as I know new born life is challenging I just want to know is it normal to feel like things are going backwards at 9 weeks? I feel like he hardly sleeps. It’s getting to the point that I am considering stopping breast feeding because he is constantly attached to me even though I have been doing it quite successfully and do want to carry on.

any help or advice appreciated!

This was honestly the hardest 2 weeks for me too- weeks 8-10 with my DS! I don't know why, but I remember just sobbing in Tesco's thinking how will I go on. I looked at formula, bought it and then had a meltdown over that too. I still continued to EBF. I wish I could help, but all I can say is everything is temporary. This will pass, it's just such a mental slog. My DS was up hourly 24/7 from weeks 8 to about week 18, but then he started doing 4-5 hour stints- these cheeky rascals keep us on our toes. You are not alone. I hope it eases for you soon- sending hugs x x

If he's drinking more it could be that he's having a bit of a growth spurt.

Have you got a stretchy wrap? I couldn’t put either of mine down for naps. It might’ve the closeness to you he is craving, rather than still being hungry. Hopefully then if he sleeps on you in the day the 3am issue will get better.
