For the last few weeks my sleep has been awful! I wake every night about 5 times. I go to bed around 9:30/10 and don’t have trouble falling asleep but from midnight I’ll struggle to sleep and toss and turn and always keep waking up not long after I fall asleep. I’m shattered! 😩 does anyone else have this problem? Any tips on what I can do to help?

Hi OP, I’m nearly 38 weeks and in the same boat, have been since about 36 weeks! It’s awful! At first I started having a warm bath right before bed and that did help for about a week, but nothing has worked since then I’m just hoping I sleep better when she’s born🤣

Giving birth was the only thing that really worked for me, sorry. I did find I could at least doze off for a bit if I got up and watched some telly, sitting up was more comfortable in the last few weeks.

Is it your first, op? The best I could do was get up and drink tea and enjoy the peace when I had insomnia with my second DC. The quiet was lovely before the toddler woke up, and then I would sometimes nap to make up for the poor sleep. It’s rubbish but I think trying to just go with it is better for you than getting worked up.

In late pregnancy I spent many a night watching 1990s reruns of Baywatch at 2am on some random sky channel, and eating bowls of bran flakes which were my craving. We were in the middle of lockdown, which didn’t help. 😵‍💫

However, there’s a free podcast I’ve found useful when I can’t sleep. It’s called Sleep With Me. It’s basically an American man chatting away about things which are quite boring and a bit odd, and gradually he repeats himself and stumbles over his words more and more until you just find yourself losing the thread and switching off. It’s actually very clever. And strangely comforting, even if it is a bit mad. Maybe try that x
