Early Pregnancy with sever fecal impaction - help!

Hi everyone! I'm new to mumsnet but needed some advice from anyone that has been through what I am going through right now!

So I am currently about 5 weeks pregnant (woo!) but so far for the past 15 days I have been horrifically constipated/fecally impacted.

The pain is so bad that I nearly vomited yesterday.. I have been in serious agony.

GP first put me on Lactulose and Fybogel which made me feel much worse.
They then put me on Movicol and told me to drink 8 sachets a day in a litre of water.. did that for 5 days and still nothing.

I've now been told to take Docusate Sodium (DulcoEase) as well as the Movicol and they said I can also take suppositories too.

Has anyone else been on a similar treatment plan and did it work?

I am honestly losing my mind, I cant sleep, I'm scared to eat because of the pain and I just want relief. I asked about an enema but they said it can potentially cause miscarriage so that's out the window.

Any help/advice/shared experiences is really appreciated!!

it depends if it’s constipation or actually fecal impaction as my understanding is that laxatives won’t work on impaction and you need further treatment to remove it or it can be life threatening. I’d really recommend going back to the doctor and finding out which it is sooner rather than later.

Agree with pp, if it was constipation that concoction of fybogel and lactulose would have sorted you out, can they send you for removal?

Oh gosh I really feel for you. I'm also 5 weeks and my digestive flow has been non-existent for about 2 weeks. I've managed to go but only cause I've forced it. Nowhere near as bad as you I know but still horrid.

I would go to the doctors and insist they diagnose it correctly as FI won't be corrected with the stuff you've been prescribed.

Good luck and do let us know how you get on x
