Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, 38yo, 6 weeks pregnant

I’m 6 weeks pregnant, 38yo with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

Anyone out there with Hashimoto’s disease have experience of a pregnancy and labour?
I was told I wasn’t ovulating and couldn’t get pregnant and yet here I am, going for my 6 week scan!
I am totally underprepared and scared out of my wits, honestly. Doctors have told me that because of my condition and age, mine is a high risk pregnancy. I’ve been reading that there is all manner of things that could go wrong, particularly if my condition was untreated, but my TSH levels have been good for some years now.
I’d really love to hear about experiences of women that found themselves in a similar position to myself.
Anyone out there open to sharing their story? Thanks in advance. 🙏

I had the same story pretty much but I was 40 years old. My TSH levels had been stable for awhile anyway. They just monitored my TSH levels closely ,which actually got better throughout pregnancy and a few extra ultrasounds due to my age to make sure the placenta was fine.
Pregnancy was great no complications, felt great, no sickness at all and I wasn't classed as high risk. I had a c-section after a failed induction at 42 weeks, a remarkably easy healing process!
Then postpartum again had my TSH levels monitored a bit closer and a few tweaks in my medication. But all was fine.
Good luck!!

2 healthy pregnancies with hashimotos here and currently pregnant with number 3. I had my tsh checked a bit more often but I wasn’t classed as high risk. I had one vaginal delivery and one c section but the hashimotos wasn’t a consideration there!
Just need to make sure you have your bloods done a bit more often postpartum too as things can change a bit after the birth but I really didn’t have any issues :)

Don't get freaked out by "high risk" pregnancy. It means there's an elevated risk, but it's not dangerous. So you need extra checks and they're to reduce the risk - it would be potentially dangerous if you didn't have the checks, but having the checks. Stress isn't helpful in pregnancy, so it's not something you have to fear. They will tell you if you have something to be worried about.

I discovered my Hashimotos postpartum. The pregnancy was unaffected so we don't know when exactly it started.

The second was a high risk - as in 11 weeks bedrest (probably from severe stress, but not hashimotos). Birth went fine. Baby fine too.

I hope everything goes well for you.

Thank you all so much! I really appreciate the time you took to reply and share your experiences. It’s definitely helped me to be less afraid of the pregnancy. ♥️ I’m so glad you all had good pregnancies and healthy babies, congratulations!

Hi just wondering how your pregnancy is going as I've recently been diagnosed with hashimoto's thyroiditis and im a bit confused/worried about things.
