Is this a good sign? Measuring behind but continued growth

Looking for some reassurance or realistic outcomes really

I had a scan last week at what I thought was 7+2 but I was actually measuring at 5+2. I was told that it could be because my cycles are not 28 days. They typically range anywhere from 29-33. I also had a previous miscarriage in December. There was a sac but no baby.

Today I had a further scan and I was measuring at 6+1 day, as I should have been in accordance with my last scan. This would still put me at exactly 2 weeks behind the first day of my last period but it put me at the exact date that I should be at according to my last scan.

There is something with my uterus that makes it more difficult to scan (can’t remember the name) and she thinks she saw a heartbeat but where everything was moving around so quickly she didn’t want to say for certain. I also saw the flickering she saw but then things quickly moved.

Do you think the measuring 2 weeks behind my LMP is still a bad sign in light of the above? Has anyone had the same or similar?

I have to go back again in 1 week.

Hi OP, obviously too soon to say for sure but personally I would say that is a good sign! If you’ve seen the expected amount of growth between your last scan and this scan then I would take that as a positive sign that the pregnancy is progressing.

Thank you @Mrsttcno1

I have never wanted something so much. I hope others are in a position to share some positive stories. But I also want realistic expectations too

@Inforapound you can't really go by your menstrual period since people have different cycles and what's more important is when you ovulate, do you know for sure when you ovulated? It sounds like you ovulated later than you thought you did. If, you measured 5 weeks last week then the best you could have hoped for was to measure 6 weeks this week. While people can be lucky and see a heart beat early, it's 6.5 weeks you need to go for that really so hopefully next week you should be measuring another week ahead with a good heart beat.

Hi @Gardenlady543

No, I don’t know exactly when I ovulated. Presumably if my cycle can be anything between 29-33 days then ovulation would be delayed too.

Thanks for your help. You’re right, I’ve measured exactly as I should have today, but I’m conscious that it still makes me 2 weeks early in accordance with my LMP. You often read of a few days here and there but 2 weeks has made me particularly nervous!

@Inforapound this stuff happens all the time, it happens the other way round too, people have really high hcg levels 10dpo and it turns out what they thought was a period was implantation bleeding and they're further along than they think. The reason for the dating scan at 12 weeks is because people don't know when conception happened. I'm a fertility treatment patient, we're the only ones where you can be sure about dates and I measured ahead by 5 days all pregnancy, so if I can measure 5 days ahead there will be just as many measuring 5 days behind. Seriously loads of variables in this, everything is looking good though. Good luck with your next scan :)

Thank you very much, @Gardenlady543 I am truly keeping everything crossed. I’m hoping at some point the dates may catch up a little bit.

I have a very tilted cervix which I have been told at 2 scans now. I was reading online that it can make it harder to see the baby but they all related to normal scans. Mine were all internal and even then, still measuring 2 weeks behind my LMP.
