I am currently around 7 weeks and I am so sick every day. I feel sick from the second I open my eyes to the minute I go to sleep. I also have a 4 year old and work full time so really struggling with it.
I was sick twice in my pregnancy with my first so this level of nausea/vomiting is a surprise for me.
Doc has given me an anti sickness tablet but it totally floors me to the point I can't keep my eyes open.
Why was I so full of energy and well in my first pregnancy and unable to walk the length of myself without needing a nap in this one lol
Any advice mums? And some positive stories on when the morning/all day sickness buggers off? 🫠🫠x

Hi
I’m not sure if this will make you feel better or not…I was sick all through my pregnancy but come about 17 weeks I stopped FEELING sick and just was sick which was actually better. The first trimester absolutely floored me, people say it goes at 12 weeks but it was later for me. Hang on in there! X

@FTMaz thanks for your reply. Oh god that sounds awful!
How did you manage to hide the pregnancy from people in your first trimester with being so sick?
Also can I ask if you had a girl as my first was a boy and the pregnancy was so easy 😂x

I went to a lot of off site meetings and I kid you not used to pull into a lay-by get in the back of my car and sleep before going back into work! I actually wish I’d just told my boss early and asked him to keep it to himself. When I was still being sick it was pretty grim having to stick my head down the staff toilet 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was convinced I was having a girl but nope I had a boy!

I got signed off sick by my GP for 2 weeks. She wrote something else on the sick note as I was 6 weeks and not ready to tell people. I was too scared to use the sick note as I don't work in the nicest team but I have the ability to WFH so I told work I wasn't feeling well with an ongoing chest infection and needed to WFH a bit more and that helped a lot....

Being in a dark room, able to step away from my laptop to lay on the sofa regularly made it all more bearable.

@FTMaz if I had the chance to sleep in my car through the day I'd definitely be taking that option too 😂
We're fully expecting for there to be 2 babies on our scan come Sunday with the way I've been feeling 🤢x

@UncomfortablyBig882 I didn't know they could write something else on the sick note, that's good!
If I get any worse I may go down that route as I'm struggling to hide it at work, absolutely shattered all day and constantly running to the toilet. Random smells set me off and I work in hospitality with a lot of food being served around me lol

Hey OP. Just wanted to say I really feel for you, I have been in a similar position. I am pregnant with my first at just over 10 weeks. From about 6 weeks I have had awful heart burn, all day nausea like you and vomiting. I ended up going to the doctor and they prescribed me anti sickness medication and some stuff for heartburn. I also had 2 weeks signed off work - I didn't want to do it but I simply had to. I found the resting for those 2 weeks really helped the sickness, I have been back at work now for 2 weeks and managing much better on the medication. I am still being sick most days but don't feel sick for the entire day anymore. I got into a routine of eating little and often and I've narrowed down a range of boring foods which I can tolerate :)

I hope you find something that works for you. Don't be afraid of taking time off. Pregnancy isn't an illness but it can make you feel very unwell at times and you are important and deserve to be looked after xx

I’ve known a lot of people have different pregnancies experiences. Just tell others if you have to? They’ll just guess anyway.

baby2xx · 25/03/2024 19:40

@SKLM oh it's awful isn't it. I'm totally off everything I used to love. Everything smells terrible and makes me gag.
My pregnancy with my son was so chill I was doing 12 hour shifts on my feet, so much energy and no nausea but this one has truly hit me like a bus 😂 thanks for your advice, I think if it continues I may end up taking some time off to rest. Wishing you well in the rest of your pregnancy x

@Rosesanddaisies1 I know I may have to tell my boss if it continues - we've had 2 miscarriages in the past and the first one I had told everyone so had to then go back around telling everyone we lost the baby which was so hard so trying to avoid that situation and keep it to ourselves as long as possible. X
