Hello mums.

As someone navigating pregnancy for the first time, I find meself seekin' guidance on postpartum recovery, particularly in terms of nutrition and general well-being.

With me due date approachin', I'm curious about the types of foods that are beneficial for postpartum recovery. Are there any specific meals or ingredients I should incorporate into me diet to aid in 'ealing and replenishin' nutrients?
Additionally, are there any meals that can be prepared in advance to make life easier once the baby arrives?

Lastly, if any of you have tips for a speedy recovery following a vaginal delivery, I would be incredibly grateful to 'ear them.

Thank you all in advance for your support and guidance.

Just make sure you’ve got plenty of protein to aid healing. Batch cooking could be things like chicken and chickpea curry, bolognese, stews. Anything you would normally make really. I think it’s important to make sure when you snack you try to reach for healthy options, as that’s where you often find yourself just grabbing biscuits and crisps in a hurry. But it’s also important to make sure you’re eating things you’ll enjoy.
Do you have a partner who could make a few fresh meals? Or family who could drop food off to you straight after baby is born?
In terms of recovery, make sure you have lots of maternity pads at home and big comfy pants. You can put the pads in the freezer and then they have a lovey cooling effect when you wear them. Don’t try to do too much too quickly - if you can spend at least a couple of days in bed resting then that will help.

Don’t be surprised if you have a very healthy appetite if you’re breastfeeding. In my second pregnancy, my weight gain was minimal and I was back at my pre pregnancy weight within a week. But I also had the appetite of a horse so gained a lot post partum as I was constantly hungry but barely moving whilst hearing from a c section.

I would 100% recommend seeing a pelvic floor specialist physio about 6-8w after your birth, the best money I ever spent.

My other top tip is get a big online supermarket delivery scheduled for a week or 2 after you deliver, 1 less thing to think about.
