Flying at 9/12 weeks?

Hi!

I’m pregnant with my first and have a trip to the States planned in a couple of weeks. Going on LMP I’ll be 12 weeks when I fly out, 13 coming back, or going on when I think I actually conceived 9 + 5.

Is it likely to be OK? It seems so, based on what I’ve read, but am a bit nervous!

My dating scan isn’t until a day or two after I get back, and I haven’t had many symptoms at all (sore and bigger boobs, slight cramping, night sweats earlier on, but hardly any sickness or nausea)… so am slightly nervous there is something wrong already—but I guess if that’s the case flying is unlikely to have an impact, right?

I have checked the state I’m going to allows abortion up to 24 weeks, so I’m not worried about legal trouble if I were to start miscarrying when there and I’m calling the travel insurance company tomorrow to update them.

Is there anything else I should know or do? I do still have time to cancel flights and hotel with no/minimal penalty (we deliberately booked with the option to do that for other reasons).

TIA!

You can fly until over 30 weeks. You'll be fine.

Should al be fine - I’d personally want to have a private early scan before going, to check your dates and that there isn’t an ectopic pregnancy.

Hi @GreatestGatsby I’ve just come back from holiday, flew out at 12 + 3 and came back at 13 + 5 and all was fine. My flights were 7-8 hours. Just drink lots of fluid on the plane as you are more prone to dehydration, wear compression socks and get up regularly to walk around. I had a private scan and my dating scan before which help assured me all was ok. Make sure your travel insurance is good and will cover pregnancy if you need any medical attention there.

Thank you all: really helpful advice. I’ll look into an early scan just in case.
