Pregnancy, birth and beyond is really good! Made me feel so much more prepared for birth and I found out lots of things I didn't know.

Nope. The worst thing I ever did was to read baby books. I had a completely unrealistic expectation of how it was going to be based on the books. I read Gina Ford and Tracy Hogg. I decided I didn't want a Gina Ford strict routine and would go with Tracy Hoggs method. Unfortunately my baby hadn't read the book and didn't want to do her order of activities.
Just go with the flow. Settle into your own routine - which will be fine.

I liked the Positive Birth Book as a starter in looking at different types of birth.
I wouldn’t bother reading any of the books about baby sleep to be honest. You kind of have to go with the flow on that.
But we found the book quite useful in terms of having an idea of what to expect once baby was here is the ‘Your baby week by week’ book. No baby will follow it exactly but it was nice to have an idea of what they’d be doing when they’re 3 weeks compared to 12 weeks etc.

Hi! I read loads. For birth: depends how hippy dippy you want to go... whatever you pick take with a pinch of salt!

For how to look after a newborn:

  1. Your baby week by week (really, really reassuring and practical, I recommend to everyone)
  2. Charmian Mead Sleeping Baby routine (no cry method to get your baby to sleep... I swear by it. If you want to read around sleeping also look at Gina Ford and Tracy Hogg).

That's it!

Child professional here. I threw all the bastard books out because they caused untold anxiety and eventually PND. The apps give you all the essential info you need. For the rest, focus on your health snd well-being and once the baby is here, on developing a relationship with it. Good luck.
