Hi I am just planning how to get to and from the Chelsea and Westminster hospital when I give birth.
looking at the parking - it’s £3 an hour(!) but obviously labour could be days!
has anyone found any cheaper alternatives? Or do they give you a discount for maternity? If not we could get a taxi but then how does that work with leaving the hospital with a baby Potentially not in a car seat etc?

Could you get a taxi/drop off and then when baby is here and nearly ready to go home partner goes to get the car? We’re not at Chelsea, we’ll be using their sister hospital West Mid and that’s what we’re planning to do. DH will drive me on the day, take the car home then public transport back, then after it’s all done go to get the car again. Also if their car park is anything like West Mid be prepare for the parking machines to only take coins - dh is very annoyed about this 😂

We got a taxi to C&W and DP brought the car seat into the hospital when he came back in to visit next day which we used in a taxi home. If we'd had a car at that time he could have come to pick me up!

I definitely would avoid parking a car there if you can, could end up super expensive if you have a long labour!

There’s a taxi rank outside the hospital. You’ll have no problem getting home as long as you remember to bring your car seat. There’s absolutely no need to drive.

Yea use taxi. Car seat scan be strapped in with seatbelts as well as the isofix base.
