Waiting for induction

I was hoping for a bit of advice / shared experiences!

I’m 40+11. I have varicose veins all over my bits (lovely) which I have been told give me an increased risk of bleeding so I need to avoid tearing (consultant words not mine).

I wasn’t allowed a sweep on Monday because the hospital was too busy. I was then booked in for an induction today (the midwife wanted to book it in earlier in the week but they were busy) however it looks like that won’t go ahead because they don’t have a bed for me. I’m scared because I was told going beyond 42 weeks can increase risks and on Monday I’ll be 42 weeks.

I called a few times but there doesn’t seem to be a bed available. I asked if they induce at weekends but no one has given any answers.

is this normal? Could it be really late I get called in?
has anyone had a weekend induction?
Has anyone else gone beyond 42 weeks and in’s been fine?

im so uncomfortable. The veins mean I can barely walk as it is. I’ve developed weird pain down one leg and in my pelvis. My son has been dropped off at my mums and I’m heartbroken I potentially won’t see him for ages (she lives an hour away). Am I just being a hormonal pathetic mess?

the bed situation on antenatal and labour wards can be very fluid - just because there isn't one now doesn't mean there won't be one later so keep fingers crossed. Inductions go on 7 days a week. If it's looking really tight and not resolving then they would look at transferring your care to another hospital experiencing less bed pressure if the timing is really crucial (if it does seem to be dragging on it may be worth asking them at what point they're going to do that).
