Blood pressure high no concerns?

Hi so confused. I'm 25 weeks pregnant with baby number 5.
Blood pressure is constantly 150/85.
Same as last pregnancy. In my last pregnancy it was the same and they wanted me on blood thinners and under a consultant. Confused as to why it's not an issue now?
Constantly have head aches and black spots in front of my eyes. Is this normal? Just don't understand how it was an issue in one pregnancy but not in another?

As long as you keep telling them everything (and reminding them every visit!) then have trust that they are looking after you. The black spots in front of your eyes in particular, keep mentioning them so they aren’t just looking at the number.

Did the high blood pressure have an impact on the last pregnancy (did it develop to pre-eclampsia?)? If not, then they might be judging a little on that.

I had pre-eclampsia in both pregnancies, and was always told that if I could keep the second number under 90 they were happy to avoid treatment. I was under a consultant though - where I am they seem to defer to consultant-led for anything.

These are symptoms my midwives tell me to rush straight to the hospital for without waiting for them to reply... I'd try speak to someone else if I was you

It's not a good hospital to be honest. 3 of my labours I was told I wasn't in labour until I started pushing in front of them minutes later. One baby nearly hit the floor!. I'm just worried. I went to Mau yesterday for contractions and period cramps in my tummy and back and they checked urine and done blood pressure and sent me home as no doctor was available.
They make you feel like your wasting their time up there.
Don't know whether to go to another hospital. But I just don't feel right. It's concerning how different I'm being treated in this pregnancy when the last was the same.
Didn't get pre eclampsia and was induced at 38 weeks for lack of movements and baby's heart rate wasn't right & blood pressure.

Honestly no idea but I'm 5 1/2 months and was admitted to hospital at the weekend. My heart rate and BP were high. I had trycardia ( or however you spell it) 130-150bpm and my blood pressure was extremely high. No one seemed to bat an eyelid . I was sent upto maternity that night to check on baby as I'd collapsed and other than saying BP is high midwife never took any action. She did say I'll write a prescription and left but when she came back she said I didn't realise your only 22 weeks , I thought you were 30+ it was a communication error so unless you have to be further along for BP to spark concern? I've no idea but that's just my experience

On the one hand the science moves on and they may have decided that medicating you with labetalol/ prescribing aspirin etc is a risk without benefit but I'm with you- two pregnancies with high BP and I wouldn't be happy with this

SnookyPook · 13/03/2024 15:30

I would push to see someone else. Apart from anything else, your instinct is clearly telling you something is wrong and your instincts should not be ignored. I had high BP towards the end of my last pregnancy and they've taken that seriously so far and regarding my care pathway going forwards. Currently only 18wks but anticipating further monitoring in third trimester. I'm also on aspirin and will be on blood thinning injections from 28wks (though that's more linked to family history of DVT I think). With the symptoms you have described I would not be happy with being fobbed off (unless they could explain a legitimate reason for the change in protocol). Don't feel bad for pushing and advocating for yourself. Unfortunately hospitals and the individuals working there don't always get things right. They are human like the rest of us. Good luck!!

Hoplolly · 13/03/2024 15:33

I have chronic hypertension (outside of pregnancy) and nope, that is too high. If you're concerned get a second opinion. They may not be worried but that doesn't mean you can't advocate for yourself. I now have a heart condition caused most likely by uncontrolled high blood pressure.

I'm 29 weeks with baby number 7 and have being medicated since 15 weeks due to high blood pressure, have had it on previous pregnancies as well as pre eclampsia, I would be going to day assessment/triage with those readings to be seen by a dr/reg x

Go to another hospital, today.

Silverfoxlady · 13/03/2024 17:42

I would speak to another doctor. This doesn’t sound right.

Ttcmumma · 13/03/2024 17:44

Definitely go to another hospital, my midwife at every appointment has asked me if I have these symptoms (even tho my blood pressure is always fine) and told me to rush to the hospital if I have even one of them!
