What does package at the Private wing at Chelsea/ charlotte mean ? Do we need to pay upfront while registering with them or it’s pay as you have the appointments?

The individual appts with the doctors you need to pay for individually as is billed by the obstetricians team. I think mine were around the £300 mark but don't hold me to that

You will need to pay a deposit upfront when you register with them which is basically the cost the birth. They will refund this with an admin fee of £400 (though they waived that for me entirely as i gave birth before my registration appt had happened)

Please also bear in mind the prices do not include the consultant. this is an additional about £10k. if you want an epidural or c-section you'll also have to pay an anethetist on top of that. These will both be billed seperately by the doctor

The maternity care in my local hospital is nothing short of abysmal, if I needed care then I would employ my own Midwife for sure. Just Google private midwives, takes a couple of minutes. They do all your antenatal care and will either deliver baby at home in your own bed or come into hospital with you and be your advocate.

Mine was 2 packages: Firstly to the consultant which was about 10k which included all scans, ante natal care, them being there on the day and post delivery check up. The other to the hospital for the delivery itself and everything associated with your stay, that ended being about another 9k. I didn’t have to arrange anything with the hospital myself, the consultant or rather his secretary did all that and I got sent the bills! For reference, this was in 2021, I had an ELCS and stayed in 2 nights.

If you have a consultant in mind I would start by calling their secretary and they’ll be able to send you the price lists and answer any questions.
