36+4 weeks pregnant and the bottom of my bump is getting more flabby and lumpy and gets sore. It's been getting worse over the last 2 weeks. My bump has been hard till then. Any clues on what's going on? Sorry about the horrid photos!

Maybe water retention? If it hurts, it might be worth calling your midwife / hospital today to be on the safe side.

How many children have you had? If not first pregnancy I'd not worry, otherwise I'd speak to midwife.

Is that not just the distribution of your tummy fat?

I'm a size 8 and even during my pregnancies my tummy folds relocated themselves to below my bump

It's my first pregnancy but water tension sounds likely, I have puffy ankles and stiff fingers and hands

When did you last have your BP taken? The puffiness in your limbs can be a sign of high blood pressure.
Give your midwife a call.

I had it done at the hospital on Friday when I went to see the consultant

I'd guess that's basically your pre preggo tummy, having been pushed down by the bump.

howshouldibehave · 12/03/2024 16:30

What was your pre pregnancy tummy like? If you had a slim flat stomach (ie it’s not just stomach fat from before being pushed down), could it be stretch marks? It’s difficult to tell from the photo-ask your midwife.

did this go away after you gave birth I’m pretty sure I have the same issue my doctor said it’s just edema but I’m worried it won’t go away after I give birth

heffalumpwoozle · 01/05/2025 07:22

It looks unusual OP. Go and see your midwife.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 01/05/2025 22:11

I had this with my eldest 2. And now my third at 36 weeks. It's just a weird wobbly fat bit. I've lost loads of weight and I'm basically all bump. I'm also hyper mobile and my skin is very elastic

I completely forgot about this post.

Turns out I had preeclampsia with the swelling of my feet etc and I had cellulitis in my stomach which was untreated for weeks because the "consultant" was useless, which could have harmed little one. Thankfully everything is okay now, he's about to turn 14 months old. My stomach hasn't gone back to normal though, still really flabby and sore to touch
