Bump not grown since 35 weeks

Hi,

I am currently 39 + 4 pregnant with my second baby. I had growth scans in December which said he would be the small size of average. My bump has normally measured 2cm behind the gestation, but since measuring in at 35cm at 36 weeks, I have not grown at all! My midwife said there was no immediate concern but to raise it with the Consultant when I saw her next Tuesday (I am on shared care due to previous third degree tear). That seems a long way off.

My first baby was ten days early and 7lb 8oz. Anyone had experience of a bump not growing? Are they likely to want to induce the baby next week or leave him? I am a bit concerned, although still feeling movement etc.

Any advice/experience appreciated.

my bump was smaller right through pregnancy and nobody was concerned until i was 37 weeks when after lack of moves i had a trace and the mw who saw me was concerned about the size of bump. i saw the consultant and he decided i should be induced due to size. ds was born 11 days early weighing 5lb 8oz.

wendy I noticed with 1 of my children that my bump didn't grow from approx 35 weeks, infact, I told the midwife that I thought I had got smaller, she said I was only on the border line and that there was nothing to worry about, I gave birth on time and the baby was under 5lb the peadeatrician was annoyed that no one had 'picked' this up by anyone at an earlier date, baby was whisked off to 'scbu' special care baby unit, because he couldn't maintain his body temp, he had to stay there for almost a week which was heartbreaking for me at the time, I had to buy premature baby clothes, nothing would fit him. He is still very small, the smallest in his class but he is very bright, I thank god that he was ok, but we were lucky, the placenta was not doing the job properly and this could have ended in trajedy, I suggest you go to your Dr and ask him to refer you to a consultant now, its better to be safe than sorry, hope all works out for you X
