Diabetes test and a fainter.

So I've found myself in a situation here! I've had a few episodes of fainting or nearly fainting during pregnancy one of which was this morning, the only thing that helps me recover is chugging lucozade. Had midwife this afternoon and there is sugar in my urine most likely caused by the lucozade but she has to refer me for a diabetes test anyway to be sure. Fair enough. However I go back to my 1st issue..if I don't eat regularly I faint, so I don't know how I'm going to manage a fasting blood test.

Compression stockings/socks might help.
Request an early morning appointment maybe? You aren’t fasting for very long then, before they do your blood test then give you that awful drink.

Thanks the GP did suggest that actually when I went for the fainting (bashed my head so needed that checked) I'll try and get some.
I am pretty sure I'm not diabetic so is the midwife just frustrating that they can't take another urine sample reading to be sure.

Are you sure chugging lucazade is the only thing that will help? Will eating little and often help as well maybe or a snack that releases sugar slowly? Spiking your blood sugar then it crashing is a cycle that might not help with feeling faint (sorry if you've already tried this).
The fast isn't too long so hopefully you'll be ok, and you just sit and do nothing so hopefully less likely to faint.
Don't be so sure you're not diabetic - I had 0 risk factors. Absolutely none in my family, not overweight and not any of the more vulnerable ethnicities. Midwife was certain I wasn't, but I was!

Thanks @Ellovera2 yes I eat regularly drink loads of water and actually don't eat or drink a lot of sugar normally.
The doctor recommended lucozade to give me a boost when I feel faint and it does work although granted it probably isn't ideal but I've had all the tests they can give me and it's just something I'll have to manage until it stops or baby comes.
My urine has been fine at every other appointment and the one where I drank the lucozade it's showing higher sugars, the midwife said she's 99% sure it's that but they have to do the test anyway to be sure which I completely understand would just be good if they could maybe use 3 urine samples across a few days or something rather than going off one result. I don't like the thought of wasting the NHSs time and money if I don't have to.
Just to add I'm only having the fainting episodes once every 10 days or so..it's not everyday but I'm sure it would be more regular if I wasn't careful with managing my body.

Sorry to hear that OP, must be so hard! How far along are you?
My urine was fine until 32 weeks when it suddenly appeared. The Dr even made them test me twice! He reckoned that if I wasn't having extra scans and therefore extra urine tests, it would probably never have been picked up.
It is annoying they couldn't dip your urine again the next day or something. Have you got an appt for the fast yet?

@Ellovera2 I am 25 weeks and been very lucky so far with no symptoms/sickness until the random fainting episodes but to be honest I can live with that it's minor in comparison to what some people go through.
Haven't had the test date through yet midwife said I'd probably get a call today as they'd want to do it this week or early next at latest. I am really happy they are being extra careful but sometimes I do wonder if the NHS is so stretched because they have a lot of unnecessary procedures that could be tweaked! We had 3 x 20 week scans 2 with a consultant obstetrician which was great but I thought was overkill, baby had a suspected club foot which they can't do anything about until birth anyway..and turns out foot is fine anyway was just the position she was in.
