Can I have my baby in a different county to be near family?

I live 4 hours away from any of my family and have young dc already.
I was thinking of going to stay with my mum around the time I'm due to have her there to look after the younger ones so dh can be at the birth and then to bring them in after.
Is this something that I would be aloud to do and would I have to give the hospital prior notice? Or do I have to go to my local hospital?

A different county but within the same country? I’m assuming you’re in UK? If so then of course you can, the hospital in the county you’re visiting isn’t going to turn you away?

Would it not make far more sense for your Mum to come and stay with you so that you’ve got continuity of care and you’re able to have your baby at the hospital you’re booked at/access to a GP surgery/community midwife for the PP period, etc?

yes, but you'd probably need to contact them in advance to book your care there. Can your mum not come and stay with you instead? Seems much easier than you all going there. "bring them in after" - do you mean to the hospital? if so, I am surprised that's even allowed. Give the other new mums a chance to rest, and just wait til you get home.
