Hi, I’m nearly 7 months pp from a forceps delivery and 3b tear. My urgency is very sporadic some days but wind control seems to be getting better however, this week unfortunately I wasn’t quick enough getting to the toilet and some liquid stool come out. I haven’t had issues in months until now.

I’m just wondering if anyone else had a few issues in the first year and if thing slowly got better? 🥺

Are you seeing a physio regularly? My best friend had a horrible delivery, tore all the way too, she ended up paying for a private physio and she had sessions every week for about 8 months. It was very intense and time consuming (and expensive) but she's doing very well now. You shouldn't live with this, please seek more help 🙏

so overwhelming and I don’t think people understand unless you’ve been through it. I’ve had some doctors dismiss the severity of what’s happened.

every part of the birth was traumatic and I got treated so badly by the hospital. Now that we are a few months down the line I’m coming to terms with everything more. I do still feel upset about what has happened sometimes though. But you can’t change what has happened I can only try to help myself with diet and exercise and hope everything gets better with some more time.

thank you 💗 all I can do is pray and hope everything turns out ok in the end xx

I'm not sure how Mumsnet works but you can always contact me if you need to vent. And please do keep us updated with your scan. St the moment I would recommend Imodium , it was my life saver for many years, it allowed me to have a life. ❤️

Hey yes I’m under physio. I might book a few private appointments too as the nhs ones are very short and sweet. I’m pleased to hear your friend is doing well. Thank you, I’m due to have an anal scan soon which will show how well I’ve healed (or not) I’m just praying everything is ok x

Thank you that’s ever so kind! I will drop you a message 💗 I totally agree about Imodium! If I haven’t been to the bathroom before leaving the house I always take one. I’ve recently found out you can get it on prescription too! Xx

Thank you ☺️ I’m so pleased to hear that your scan was a good!

how long would you say it took you to gain full control over your bowels again?

I’m not breastfeeding no 😔 I couldn’t even hold my newborn because the birth was so traumatic. I just wish tears and the problems it can cause got talked about.

I did have vaginal atrophy after the birth it’s not nice is it.

thank you 💗

I’m so sorry your birth experience was so traumatic ❤️ I agree that tears are not discussed enough. I found it really mentally hard to come to terms with at the time because I didn’t have a good enough understanding of what had actually happened to me.

I don’t remember exactly how long it took but I would say that definitely by a year PP I felt less of an urgency to go. I’m pregnant again in my second trimester and was initially worried I would regress but so far, my pelvic floor has felt pretty strong and I’ve been able to control my bowels if needed, which is a good sign!

Really hope your recovery goes well ❤️

Thank you 💗 I did originally want to have an elective c section but was talked out of it by doctors and midwives 😔 I really wish I had stuck to my guns.

I’m sorry to hear you had such a tough time too.

I’m just hoping everything gets better soon and it’s just a blip in the recovery process. I would love to give my child a sibling in a few years (via c section) but I want to be fully recovered myself first.

so pleased to hear you are doing so well with your pregnancy and congratulations!

Thank you so much 💗
