Induction

Hey everyone so I'm pregnant with my second child and I will be 40 weeks tomorrow. I was scheduled an induction tomorrow on my due date because I had a really traumatic delivery last time. My baby was a large baby and I had a hemorrhage because my cervix wouldn't close back again due to trauma basically my body just gave up, and I think this is also because I'm so petite. I also went through so many problems after delivery because of all of this, i had to have physiotherapy because my pelvis was so damaged. And so I asked to be induced early this time and I was scheduled induction for tomorrow (on my due date) but I went in for a membrane sweep yesterday and she said I'm 1cm dilated and already at a stage where my waters can be broken so I don't need to be induced on Sunday, I can go straight on the list for my waters to be broken. When I asked what she means she said that when inducing, they only insert the pessary in order to get you to a stage where waters can be broken, and then you just have to wait for when they can do that. But because I'm already at that stage I don't need the pessary/induction, in fact it isn't even possible because baby's head is so low. So they basically canceled my induction and instead put me on the list for my waters to be broken and said I will be called when it's my turn. But this is so frustrating for me because I just want to go in tomorrow and get induced and I feel like it's so unfair for them to do this

I get it's so frustrating as you want something to be happening and get yourself mentally prepared for something, that when the plan changes it's hard to deal with.

The thing is is that there is no point in putting in the pessary as you are already at a point where your waters can be broken. Even if you went in tomorrow, had the pessary and waited 24 hours for it to work, there is no guarantee that you would have your waters broken straight away, you would still have to wait on the antenatal ward for a bed and midwife to become available on the delivery suite/labour ward. They wouldn't do it on the induction ward as you need 1:1 care. They will call you when they have a space, it is better that you are at home in your own surroundings, than stuck on a ward waiting for things to happen. .

Obviously if you have any concerns about yourself or baby then that would be different and it would be best to go into hospital and be monitored there.

Hope it doesn't take too long and you get to meet your baby soon!
