I suffer with major anxiety so Youl probablt see a lot of posts from me regarding this topic…
I’ve just made food for the first time in a while due to my sickness and nausea and I didn’t think anything of it whilst cooking but the heat was near my belly which can’t be helped due to my height lol. Anyways my belly was warm throughout which I normally quite enjoy however now that I’ve sat down and can feel my tummy is warm I realised I’m pregnant, could this have hurt the baby?

No, being near warmth will not hurt your baby. You can use a hot water bottle etc.

Aw no don't worry, that can't hurt baby! They're so well protected in there.

I put my heated mattress on most nights, it’s fine hun

What helps me is trying to think logically about it and rationalise. I know that won’t work for everyone’s anxiety (and doesn’t always work for mine), but if being near ovens or hobs were bad, don’t you think the nhs would warn women, who traditionally do most of the families’ cooking? Wouldn’t you hear about chefs and cooks having to give up work during pregnancy? And what about women in hot countries, if being near heat is bad, what do they do?
totally get it I panicked after leaning against a radiator once, but honestly you’re fine.

The Heat from cooking is not enough to penetrate all those layers in your body

Apollo365 · 08/03/2024 17:56

You are fine OP, pregnancy is very stressful and it’s so easy to caught up in things like this. They are all wrapped up in there :)

I used to avoid hot baths when pregnant, but never thought of the heat from cooking. I’m the only one who cooks in my house (DH does the washing up) and both my DC were absolutely fine, so no, you won’t have done anything to your baby.

Definitely fine. Please speak to your midwife if your anxiety is not manageable
