Hi All,

Can anyone recommend decent supplements for during pregnancy? I just had Active Iron Pregnancy Plus delivered by Amazon, whom on the website state are vegetarian but just received and on the box says "Fish oils".

Vegetarians don't eat fish!

So can anyone recommend a good supplement WITHOUT fish?

I think Pregnacare Original is vegetarian. They made me feel sick though so I’ve stuck with vitamin D and folic acid on their own, that’s all NHS recommends

I've been taking folic acid and Vitamin D since we started trying so I'm on that all ready. Might stay on those until I at least hear from the midwife then.

Search for 'nothing fishy'. Get my omega and vit d from them. Holland and Barret also do vegan version of nearly everything.

The original Pregnacare vitamins don't have any fish oils – I used them through my pregnancy. For other brands, generally look for the ones that DON'T advertise omega-3, as that's almost always fish-based: https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/vitabiotics-pregnacare-original-tablets-6100128913.

(Incidentally, if you happen to be concerned about omega-3 and 6 intake during pregnancy – or generally – rapeseed oil is a fantastic source of both. I use it as my primary cooking oil.)

i'm a lifelong vegetarian and i take pregnacare (veggie friendly) but also i've upped having spinach smoothies with some sort of fruit...it can be difficult with iron as it's vital for the baby to grow...also if you're in the UK you can get the midwive to prescribe you extra iron and it's free precriptions when pregnant. x
