9 weeks and constantly worried after mc

I'm 37, pregnant with #2 and am so far just over 9 weeks. I've had one early scan which put me at 7+6 but after a mmc and 2 CP last year I feel constantly worried. Anyone else the same?

I have another scan next week and am still feeling everything as I should be in terms of tiredness, nausea, sore boobs, smell aversions etc whereas when I had my mmc everything just stopped. So taking it all a positive yet still worry. Also on progesterone for this one.

Just wanted to give you a hand-hold - I am in a very similar position to you, same age and also just over 9 weeks today but expecting baby #1. I had a miscarriage last September so it's definitely still fresh in the mind and hard for me to think that perhaps this one will stick (I was just under 9 weeks when I started to miscarry last time so this week feels like a very big week for me!). I just keep reminding myself that my first scan was good, I have no reason to suppose that anything is wrong this time, and if I forget to tell myself that then my husband tells me. We have another scan tomorrow so if that goes well I'm hoping I'll be able to relax a bit. Wishing you lots of luck for this pregnancy and I hope your scan next week goes well and gives you reassurance. ❤

TTCbaby2023 · 29/02/2024 12:10

Pregnancy after loss is damn hard, there is no doubt about that. The same happened to me with an mmc and like you, all symptoms went away a week before I had a scan to confirm it. Having said that, sometimes symptoms stop and everything is fine as well. I don't really have much advice as I was a ball of nerves at the time. I had scans at EPU at 8 and 10 weeks just for reassurance and then at 11 for NIPT, and 12 and 13 weeks for combined test. To be fair though, even now at 37 weeks, I won't feel totally reassured until she is born and all is well.
One thing I would say though is that the 8 week mark seems to be a big milestone in terms of mc as most of them happen between 6 and 8 weeks, so you are on the right track.
Let us know how your scan went next week :-)

RoseH36 · 29/02/2024 15:10

@CluelessInLondon sorry to hear you've gone through a mc too, it's the hardest thing to deal with. I'll be keeping everything crossed for your scan tomorrow, do let me know how you get on. As everything went well with your last one then hopefully you're on the right track this time. I was measuring 7+6 at my scan and last time got as far as 7+4 so although I keep telling myself I've passed that mark it's still hard not to worry.

@TTCbaby2023 so sorry you've experienced a mmc before too. That's what I also keep reminding myself that sometimes symptoms stop and its fine. Last time I didn't find out I'd mc for several weeks until I had a bit of a bleed at 11 weeks but looking back all the symptoms had stopped weeks beforehand but I was oblivious to it. I know that at least this time being able to have reassurance scans does at least help in putting my mind at rest. It's lovely to hear you're almost at the end of your journey now and I hope everything goes well for you and she's not keeping you waiting too long to meet her 🤗

Just wanted to say have had several friends who experienced an mmc, sorry you had to go through this, I know for them was a very traumatic experience :( however they all went on to have babies in the future without a repeat mc. The highest risk of mc is in the first 6 weeks. In the cases of some of these mmc not detected until 12 weeks the baby had stopped developing at a very early stage so the fact that you have seen baby looking fine on scan at 7+5 and still experiencing pregnancy symptoms is very reassuring

CluelessInLondon · 01/03/2024 11:55

@RoseH36 Just wanted to let you know my scan this morning was all good - baby is measuring 9+1 so a day behind my dates, but has had exactly 2 weeks' growth since the last scan a fortnight ago. And where it was a misshapen blob last time, this time it looked like a proper tiny baby and was waving its little arms at us. ❤ Very relieved and hoping I can relax a bit between now and the dating scan!

What day is your scan next week?

RoseH36 · 01/03/2024 13:41

@Tianrose thank you. I think it's definitely reassuring I've seen baby and am still getting symptoms. Still so hard not to worry at times. Not long to wait until my scan next week so fingers crossed everything will still be going well.

@CluelessInLondon I'm so thrilled for you! That must be such a relief. Amazing that it's looking more like a little baby now 🥰 have you got your next one booked? My scan is Tuesday morning. Got my booking in appointment tomorrow evening as it was the only slot available. They've booked me in for my dating scan already near the end of March, I'll be 13 weeks by then as there's nothing sooner.

CluelessInLondon · 01/03/2024 14:11

@RoseH36 My dating scan is on the 23rd when I'll be 12+3 - feels like a long time away right now but I'm hoping that it won't drag quite as much as the last couple of weeks now that I know things are normal and the risk of something going wrong is much lower. Had my booking appointment this morning as well so that's all done - had to drink loads of juice and water after my scan to make sure I could give a urine sample. 😂

I really hope everything goes well for you on Tuesday, let me know how you get on. And there is a lovely and supportive October babies thread on this board as well if you would like to join!

RoseH36 · 01/03/2024 15:01

@CluelessInLondon oh my god these weeks have dragged for me too. I'll have exactly 3 weeks until my dating one. Also hoping it won't go as slowly as these last 2 have, feels like its been about a month. Ah glad you've had your booking appointment. Haha I need to remember to drink as last time I forgot they needed a sample and I'd been to the loo before leaving home.

Thank you, fingers crossed I'll be joining that thread 😊

Hi, I remember feeling like and was so anxious at 8 weeks. I had two babies previously at 8 weeks so by the time I got to 8 weeks again I was convinced I would lose the baby. My midwife called to book me in and I refused and delayed until 10 weeks.

I remember now so vividly going for a scan at 9 weeks for peace of mind and she found a heartbeat immediately and I was a few days ahead.

That helped for about a week!

Seriously - each week you get through, it gets just a little bit easier.

SnookyPook · 01/03/2024 15:09

@RoseH36 @CluelessInLondon know you both from other threads and so happy to see things are progressing well for you both so far! I know those nerves all too well and my how the first trimester drags after loss!

I was exactly the same before my scans and was still a bit nervous just now before my 16wk appointment but thankfully healthy heartbeat was heard and I can honestly say that I'm definitely able to relax and enjoy it all a bit more since the 12wk scan and as each week progresses. Just keep taking it one day at a time and you'll get through! 🥰

🙏🏼🌈💗

CluelessInLondon · 01/03/2024 15:31

@SnookyPook So nice to hear from you and I'm so pleased that everything is still going well with your rainbow baby. ❤

RoseH36 · 01/03/2024 15:39

@SnookyPook hi Snooky, I've still been lurking on the other thread but doesn't feel right to post very often when so many others are still facing the same battles we've been through. So pleased you're able to relax a bit more now, always a bit easier after the 12 week one.

@lifehappens12 glad to hear you found things got easier, I was the same for the first week and felt ok but the closer I'm getting to the next scan the more the nerves are creeping in again.

I'm currently 9+3. Had a reassurance scan at exactly 6 weeks with a heart beat. On progesterone after 2 miscarriages last year. I keep debating a private scan but with my last pregnancy, had one and it was an awful experience (also bad news which didn't help). Have my 12 week scan on the 22nd so 3 weeks to go.

RoseH36 · 01/03/2024 18:10

@Chamalala good luck for your next one, fingers crossed those weeks fly by for you. So pleased it was good news at your 6 week one. How are you finding progesterone? I hate how messy it is.

OP posts:
Chamalala · 01/03/2024 18:19

Haha definitely not a fan of the progesterone! Epu said to take it until 16 weeks so I am counting down - 3 weeks done, 7 more to go 😂
The only good thing is that I try to lie down for 20-30 mins after putting it in which means dh has to get up with the toddler!

RoseH36 · 01/03/2024 21:28

@Chamalala I try to lie down after it too so it doesn't leak out as much, although some days I still feel like a tap 😂 I'm on it until week 12 although because I was measuring slightly ahead at my early scan I want to stay it on it at least a couple of weeks longer to be certain the placenta has taken over.

OP posts:
RoseH36 · 05/03/2024 10:55

Had my scan, all going well. Measuring exactly 10 weeks today, which was what I was expecting based on the last scan so that's great news. They've pulled my dating scan forward a few days as I said 3 weeks seemed like a lifetime to wait so they've managed to fit me in 4 days earlier.

Hope everyone else is well.

OP posts:
CluelessInLondon · 05/03/2024 10:58

@RoseH36 That's great news! I hope you're able to relax a bit and start feeling less anxious now. What date will you have your 12 week scan?

RoseH36 · 05/03/2024 13:52

@CluelessInLondon thank you, I hope so too. The 22nd March and its a morning one now, the original one on the 26th wasn't until 3pm so I'd have been fretting all day. Just want that one to be ok then we can tell our DS 🥰

OP posts:
Chamalala · 17/03/2024 09:22

Hope everyone is doing okay. We had a scan on Friday after a small bleed last week and thankfully all okay. A little wiggling bean, measuring 11 weeks. 12 week scan next Friday, can't wait to get past the 12 week mark!

RoseH36 · 17/03/2024 13:09

@Chamalala glad you're ok and it was nothing to worry about, always scary though isn't it. Got my 12 week scan Friday too! Here's hoping the next few days go quickly for us. Doing ok here, just wishing the constant hunger would settle down soon as I'm getting very fed up of it now.

RoseH36 · 21/03/2024 19:28

@Chamalala good luck tomorrow

@RoseH36 thank you! Good luck to you too. Feels such a milestone getting through the 12 week scan!

RoseH36 · 22/03/2024 11:51

@Chamalala it's a huge milestone to get through. I'm back home now, everything is going well, baby was in a really stubborn position so had to go for a walk to try and get them to turn over so she could get the measurements she needed. They've put me a couple of days ahead so measuring 12+5. Hope you have great news too x

OP posts:
Chamalala · 22/03/2024 12:00

@RoseH36 so glad you had good news. All good here too. Also dated ahead so put at 13 weeks exactly. Baby wiggled around nonstop :)
