Bad snoring whilst pregnant - what can I do before DP goes mad?

One of my weirder pregnancy side effects is that apparently I do this weird snoring thing which sounds like a loud click according to DP. When he gets up for the toilet or to sort out a DD he cannot get back to sleep for me snoring. He wakes me up and tells me to clear my throat or move but then I go back to sleep and still do it and then he cannot get back to sleep.

I'm actually dreading going to bed tonight as he'll say "don't snore" but I'm asleep and cannot help it IYSWIM. Also apparently it's worse if I'm facing him so I have to sleep away from him on one side but I have SPD and SI pain so it's not easy.

We have no extra bedrooms or beds, the sofa is mega uncomfy and he cannot sleep downstairs as the cats run across you if you try it and anyway he cannot sleep on a floor for the next 15 weeks.

Has anyone else has this particular pregnancy complication, it sounds funny but it's not, DO is getting rubbish sleeps and is getting really grumpy?

have you tried Vicks? And propping yourself up on a v-shaped cushion.

Also, earplugs for your DP, though you have to experiment with the different kinds.

Try asking your GP too. This will be disturbing your sleep too and you really really need your sleep now.

DP can't have earplugs as he would sleep through his alarm.

Doesn't disturb my sleep I have a 3yo and 2yo already what with them and being pregnant I sleep well.

Will experiment with v shaped cushion tonight though.

chuck him into the spare room or couch

B1977 · 24/03/2008 23:08

tell him to give you a shove and wake you up a little bit, if you move off your back and lie on your side it will help!

B1977 · 24/03/2008 23:09

a nice shove, obviously

my mw told me to get partner to gently tap my temples when i was snoring - worked sometimes, worth a try!

I'm snoring now I am pregnant (30 weeks) and my husband ends up on a futon in the lounge (we are moving soon from a 1-bed flat to a 3-bed house luckily = spare bedroom). Bless him, he doesn't complain, just quietly removes himself. I heard that propping yourself up on pillows does help. O

my snoring is so horrible that dh doesn't even start off in the same bed as me now that I'm 33 weeks. But last time I was pg we had no spare bed and I tried the snoring strips that you stick on the roof of your mouth. Bit like a thin strip of chewing gum, very weird but also relatively effective. They stopped my snoring long enough for dh to get off to sleep anyway

sweetkitty · 25/03/2008 08:14

Tried the pillows last night don't know how he got on will have to ask later.

No spare room unfortunately and the sofa is really uncomfy plus you get cats running over you.

I already sleep on my side as well and he does give me a little shove but says I go straight back to sleep and snoring. With the SPD it takes an age and is very painful for me to turn over as well.

Will also have a look at the strips in Boots.

you could try giving him medised?!?!?

sorry sweetkitty - I don't know what to say, dh and I are no doubt noth like foghorn leghorn at the moment but he would sleep through you parking a car on him

my dh snores and only think that works is the nasal strips you can get in boots. You put them over your nose like a plaster..

sweetkitty · 25/03/2008 14:34

DP e-mailed me this morning to say my snoring was a lot better did I do something different so the v shaped pillow was a success, still going to get those strips though.

dizzy - wish I could medised him sometimes but unfortunately he has to got to work.

I'm just fed up with him moaning about something I have little control over. Bad enough with all the other pregnancy moans without him adding to them.

My OH goes to the spare room to sleep if my snoring is bad but I don't put up with any moaning from him about it at all, I just remind him that I am cooking his baby and he shuts up!

Your DPs moaning is akin to him moaning that you have swollen ankles or a growing bump ie unreasonable, its not as if its your fault its just part of your condition.

sweetkitty · 25/03/2008 14:57

I agree oatcakes but he does most of the nighttime wakings with the DDs which can be up to 6 times he's up during the night then he's up for work at 6am so he's not all bad.
