TSH of 7.5 and 9 weeks pregnant

Hello everyone, I've had an underactive thyroid for years - been on a regular dose of 100mcg levothyroxine, upped to 125mcg with my last pregnancy and subsequently my TSH levels have remained stable.

When I found out I was pregnant this time, I requested a thyroid blood test but because of a mix up at the surgery, it's taken me until I'm 9 weeks to get the results. TSH is incredibly high at 7.5 and T4 is 10 (and this was when bloods were taken 2 weeks ago...god knows what the levels are now)! The Dr is going to consult with a colleague and get back to me to figure out how much to increase my thyroxine, but I'm now so worried about the miscarriage risk. We had a private scan a week ago and everything seemed fine, but I'm still so anxious.

Has anybody else had an untreated underactive thyroid during early pregnancy?

I hadn't been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid prior to pregnancy, but when I had my booking bloods taken my TSH was 3.4 (so not as high as yours, but still above where they like it for pregnancy). Consultant started me on levothyroxine and it's been monitored and adjusted since. Booking bloods were done at about 7 weeks but I was 10 weeks by the time I started on the levothyroxine.

I'm currently 25 weeks and everything's looking ok so far. I'm consultant led anyway as I have type 1 diabetes, but I'm not sure whether the thyroid issues would make this the case too? Worth speaking to your midwife about it at your booking appointment if you haven't already, so she can refer you if needed.
