Hi all, I have a scan this week with them this week at around 7/8 weeks. Anyone else had a private scan with them? I'm pretty nervous/apprehensive.

I had a gender scan with them during Covid as partners weren't allowed to hospital scans at the time and we wanted to find out together. I didn't see the point in early scans personally

I'm very anxious about miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy so just to put my mind at rest.

I had a fetal well being and gender reveal scan with them at 16 weeks. They were actually more helpful and nicer than the sonographer who done my 12 week scan on the NHS

Amyb87 · 25/02/2024 15:58

We had a scan at 7 weeks with window to the womb staff were great but for the price vs what you got I was disappointed.
We had another scan a couple of weeks after with meet your miracle, cheaper plus multiple videos, pictures emailed and better quality images.
But experience wise window to the womb was lovely after many losses they eased my anxiety as soon as I walked in.

To be honest I'd be happy just to be told there's a heartbeat and everything is in the right place. Did they print you pictures?

@Sara1988 can totally relate to that!
Yes we got one photo printed

CurlewKate · 25/02/2024 16:05

Are the people properly qualified? I'd be wary if they weren't and were offering reassurance.......

Good at experience at the Chessington branch. Hope the scan goes well x

OldTinHat · 25/02/2024 16:21

It's sex! Not gender.

I'm personally very wary of window to the womb.

We went for a 7 week reassurance scan in my first pregnancy. Our baby was measuring a week behind and I had a subchorionic haematoma. They said there was a heartbeat but I couldn't see it - they said I needed to hold my breath to see it - I still couldn't. They sent us away with a photo, a "congratulations" and a leaflet on SCH.

I was later diagnosed by the NHS as having had a missed miscarriage. Having had many early pregnancy scans since this pregnancy I am now skeptical that there was ever a heartbeat at that Window to the Womb scan - there was definitely no yolk sac. My heartbeats on other 6-7 week scans have been very obvious.

My early scans since this one have all been at medical places such as a hospital or fertility clinic. I wouldn't personally go back to one of these places.

AimeeLou84 · 25/02/2024 16:30

Also I had to download an app they were linked to and my full report and all images are in the app. They printed 2 pictures for me

Toddlerteaplease · 25/02/2024 16:34

Not sure which company, but I know of a family who had two 4d scans, and all fine. Baby was born with a major facial defect, (not a cleft) that was not picked up. Absolutely no idea how it was not spotted.

ACR7 · 25/02/2024 16:34

We had a lovely experience with them.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'll go with a skeptical eye.

I had very good experiences either them. Very knowledgeable and took the time to point out the crown, rump and heartbeat. Explained measurements and ticked off important markers on a form that I could take away along with a photo.

MillshakePickle · 25/02/2024 17:16

I had a reassurance scan at the one in Bagshot. They were incredibly professional (male sonographer but that's cool with me) was checking for an ectopic because I've had a couple previously and couldn't get in to see the EPU before 7.5 wks.

Everything is was fine. He warned me he would go quiet as he did preliminary checks and what I would have to do if it was bad news before starting.

Got my pictures and referred back to nhs for more reassurance scans as also had several mc. Think it was circa £85 well spent

OP any reason your worried about ectopic? have you had one before? If you have you and this is your next pregnancy then your hospitals EPU should scan you, I had a eptopic then my next 2 successful pregnancies I was scanned about 6/7 weeks to make sure everything was in the right place.

I’ve had to “gender” (sex) scans with WTTW, and we were happy with both scans at different branches. We were just too impatient to wait for the 20 week scan.

Sara1988 · 25/02/2024 18:59

@PlaneMum19 I've been having some mild pain on the left hand side which has me concerned. No previous pregnancies.

Sorry for your losses but glad you overcame.

Yep had a 6 week and 8 week scan (IVF pregnancy)with them (Gloucester branch) they were very thorough and the quality and size of the screen is much better than the NHS scans. Also been to ultrasound direct who I have no complaints about but the room was very cramped and the screen to see baby was much smaller.

PurpleChrayn · 25/02/2024 19:05

Private scans are a racket. They prey on women's anxieties.

BarbaricPeach · 25/02/2024 19:08

We didn't have an early scan with them, but did have one around 24 weeks. It was a nice experience, everyone was friendly and professional and the scan and photos were clearer than the ones we got on the NHS. We're TTC and I'd go back for an early scan this time.

SPsmama · 25/02/2024 19:16

I've had a good and bad experience with them.

First pregnancy, 6 week reassurance and 16 week gender/wellbeing scan, pregnancy was going well so all good.

Second pregnancy, should've been 8 weeks baby was measuring 5+5, they said it had a heartbeat and I might've just had my dates wrong. I'd had a positive test 6.5 weeks ago so I knew I wasn't 5+5. I got upset and asked them to refer me to EPU but all they could say was to come back again in 2 weeks (at extra cost). Started bleeding and EPU confirmed MMC 2 weeks later.

Currently 18+3 and have refused to see WTTW, NHS scans only now.

IME they're only good if it's good news and are shit if it's bad news. They are supposedly proper qualified sonographers who also work in the NHS, but I don't believe all of them do.

Sara1988 · 25/02/2024 19:20

@SPsmama thanks that's really helpful. Won't stop me going but you're the second person with a similar experience, so at least I know what to look out for.
