33 weeks and unable to pass urine normally?

I've noticed today that I'm drinking as normal, around 2/3 litres and I feel like I'm going to wet myself when I'm walking, like I'm bursting for a big wee but when I go to the toilet just a trickle comes out? And I still feel like I need a wee
I'm worried because when I was in labour with my first my bladder completely stopped working, I couldn't even pass a drop and this was absolute agony for the 3 days of labour

As long as I'm passing small amounts is that okay? Or does this sound like it will get worse?

If you're passing a normal amount of water every day, but just in infuriatingly small amounts at any one time, it's probably baby's position, but worth an email to check with the midwife.

If you're drinking a normal amount and urinating far less, you should call them as soon as possible, whether it's a midwife number or the hospital. It's just one of those problems that better checking before it causes worse problems.

Call your midwife department to ask advice due to having previous issues.

It will either sort out the problem before it gets worse or put your mind at rest.

Why didn’t they just do a catheter for you during labour last time? And surely that’s an option now if you’re bladder is painfully full but you can’t pass any urine? Time for a call to your midwife or your hospital.

I was in labour in lockdown and there was virtually no staff, the midwife I had just dismissed it when I told her I couldn't pee :(

That’s poor treatment. I’m sorry that happened to you. How are you doing today? If you’re still suffering you should absolutely call your midwife or hospital and ask to be seen. I’m not a dr or midwife but I’d be worried about a possible UTI in this situation.

As someone said, this could just be due to baby’s position and having it previously hopefully means this is the case. However, I had this and it was pre eclampsia. Even with a catheter nothing came out.

I went into hospital and my baby was delivered the same day by emcs. Have you got any swelling? You need your blood pressure and protein in urine checking to rule this out.

I've got protein in my urine but they say it's not pre eclampsia

Would definitely mention to the midwife if you're worried - like others said you want to avoid a UTI. That said, I've had this on and off for the last 2 weeks(also 33 weeks tomorrow) and find it's definitely related to position of baby/bump. If I lean back when using the toilet so everything isn't as squished I notice a definite difference in the flow. I'm only 5'3 so I think everything is just super squashed in there!
