Hiccups when baby is active

Hey everyone, pretty much what the title says I’m 35 weeks pregnant and little one seems to get hiccups every time he has a mad session. He’s a very active baby anyway but it seems to be when he is having a more crazy session.

Im not worried about the movements as they have been the same for a while but the hiccups with it only started at about 30 weeks.

Ive mentioned this to my midwife and to triage and both said this is completely normal and nothing to worry about. It happens about 2-3 times a day roughly and lasts about 5-10 each time. I wasn’t worried at first but I’ve read it can indicate a problem with the cord and I’m so scared now :(

any one else have this?

Yes, several times a day. With all 3 of my pregnancies. It’s completely normal, you will likely see them hiccup a lot once they are born too. Stay off google, it is not your friend.

Yes - with my first DD. Every day. And no problems at all, either at birth or afterwards.

Thank you both for your replies! I’m so glad I’m not the only one then. I need to listen more to professionals and less to doctor Google 🙈

When I was pregnant with my son he hiccuped every day and it would go on for aaaages. I read all the stuff online and really started to panic that something was wrong. I mentioned it to my midwife and she thought it was hilarious (and that I was possibly a bit mad) and said there was no way this would be an issue. My son was totally fine, and still hiccuped a lot as a newborn. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy:)

DD hiccupped a lot before birth and was still getting almost daily bouts up to her teens. Totally normal, she's very healthy and always has been. I think she has mostly grown out of it in her 20s.

Try to think of it as a sign your little boy is alive and well in there.

@Janeykat Thank you for this reply! My midwife also looked at my like i was crazy (maybe I am at this point aha) and she actually laughed as well.

@NeverTrustAPoliceman To be fair my husband hiccups all the time so perhaps he just takes after his daddy lol

think I’m just getting closer and panicking more about every thing at this point!
