I had a 4D scan today at my local private practice, they also include a growth scan

The femur length and abdominal circumference were on the 50th Centile.. the head circumference 98th!!!

I'm really worried, she said there was no fluid or anything wrong with the brain structure was fine..

My husband had to get taken to the head specialist when he was born to check for fluid but it turns out just a big head, and my father in law has a big head too!

I can't stop panicking, I have no more nhs scans! I just feel deflated, anyone else? X

It just sounds like it's a family trait and nothing to worry about :)
Also important to remember that ultrasound can be quite inaccurate and private clinics are unregulated, so I definitely wouldn't worry. Baby's head will be measured at birth and then monitored by the health visitor so there's also that safety net.

Probably just a large headed family, my son has a 62 cm hat size! Edit: his head doesn’t look large though.
His head was 19inches when born I think
I needed stitches !

My son was born with a very large head that continued to grow and went completely off the charts! He had an MRI scan at 6 weeks but turns out its just that him and his Dad both have big heads! :)

Remember, these are just average measurements. Some babies are going to be small and some will be big.
If your DH is known for having a big head, there was a 50/50 chance your baby would too!

My DD was born small but so was my DH, so I never worried.

Both my DC consistently measured around the 50th centile for weight and length but their heads were 98th or something like that. They still have really big heads and me and DH also have big heads so it's not that surprising.

My DS Was born with a 38cm head (98th centile i think) and they thought he was going to be a big baby- turns out he was 7lb11oz so giant head on small body - he's now grown into it at 13!

I had exactly this. Head was fine in earlier scans then suddenly shot up and was off the scale. They thought he was going to be a big baby (he wasn't) which was one of the reasons I was induced early. His head was fine when he was born but then shot up off the scales again. He had a scan when he was 4 months and an MRI when he was about a year old. He's fine... just has a big head! Smile it's hard not to worry but I've found they tend to be over cautious with stuff like this, which is a good thing really!

Nothing at all to worry about with the head size being out of proportion with the other measurements. If you think about adults you know, there isn't that much correlation between height and head size. According to this study only about 15% of babies with big heads also had high weights, and vice versa. www.obgproject.com/2018/03/20/can-fetal-head-size-help-predict-risk-cesarean-section/

But, in the short term, a big head makes labour more difficult. My firstborn had a head on the 99th percentile and I ended up with a c-section. Plenty of women give birth naturally to babies with similar head sizes, but the risk of instrumental delivery or c-section is going to increase. So I would consider going for another private scan if you can afford it at about 36 weeks, and then taking the report along with you to the hospital when you give birth and to your antenatal appointments so that the doctors have as much information as possible.
