Pregnancy after miscarriage / Progesterone + thin linings

Hi all
any help you be massively appreciated.
I had a mmc in November at almost 10 weeks. I am now 4 weeks pregnant and experienced some bleeding. I had a scan today which didn’t show anything with a lining of 8.3mm. I am hoping I’m just too early to see anything but the doctors said she wasn’t hopefully of a successful pregnancy due to my lining not being very thick. They have taken bloods and will come back with a course of action. Neither them or the GP seem to want to prescribe progesterone to help maintain the pregnancy if/when they confirm it’s in the correct location Even after discussing with them the tommys findings.
I don’t know what to do next as I want to do everything possible to make this pregnancy successful.
any thoughts or anyone that has had a similar experience with any suggestions would be very welcome. Thank you!

@30somethingttc do you mind me asking the outcome of this please? My lining was 7mm at cd24 last week and I just found out I'm pregnant on Monday, but the GP won't prescribe progesterone either and I'm terrified

@30somethingttc@Ontheflipside_ Hi Ladies, I had 2 chemical pregnancies in March (4W 2D) and April (5W 3D) this year. I phoned the early pregnancy unit both times. Last month when I started to bleed they advised me to test 7 days later and if my test was still positive , they would have booked me in for a scan the week later and if all ok on the scan they would have prescribed me with progesterone until 12 weeks. Unfortunately I got a negative.

So what I'm trying to says is ... Ring your local early pregnancy unit as soon as you get your positive , explain about your previous miscarriage and see if they will prescribe you progesterone.

Please keep me posted on how you both get on x

Thank you so much for this advice. I'm very lucky in that I've not suffered a miscarriage before. It took us longer to conceive this time and with other symptoms I was having throughout my cycle I went to the GP. They did bloods during the follicular phase which came back at a normal progesterone level but the scan I had during luteal phase said my lining was only 7mm. 5 days later I had a positive pregnancy test. I've been back and forth with my GP since Monday but they will not prescribe progesterone and will not monitor my hcg. Do you think I should still speak with EPU?

leanne2105 · 15/05/2024 14:33

@Ontheflipside_ If you are unsure about anything I would ring EPU and see what they think. I've been pretty lucky as both times the EPU have been so caring and understanding.

I phoned my GP about my CP's and he said that he cannot refer me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic until i've had 3 losses .... SH1TE!!! However in the meantime he has agreed for me to have a blood test and a pelvic ultrasound.

My period is due 24/05 and I've got my blood test 21/05 ... so i'm hoping if i've caught now they will know and support me. x

@leanne2105 thank you. I got my community midwives appointment through yesterday, so I now have someone I can call. Which I will try today. My EPU have a message saying if you want advice it's community or gp, not us. So I'm not hopeful.

That's absolutely terrible about needing 3 losses. I'm so sorry. Good luck this month, fingers crossed for a bfp for you x

@Ontheflipside_
i didn’t get progesterone no matter how many times I asked and who I asked, EPU and GP. Even with the help of a tommys midwife helping me to explain that I was eligible for it due to miscarriage, bleeding with my current pregnancy and with the NICE guidelines.
my lining did thicken though between scans, and I put myself on bed rest working from home for a few weeks and the bleeding stopped around 8 weeks. I was lucky my EPU were supportive and scanned me a few times. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with two babies so whilst I don’t want to give anyone false hope, it is currently going well touch wood
I know it’s not possible for everyone but if you are worried I know you can get HCG blood tests done privately. I can’t give any advice on progesterone though. I’ve got everything crossed for you that it works out ok ❤️❤️❤️

@3030somethingttc thanks so much for coming back to me and the update. I'm so sorry you didn't get the support you were asking for. It's absolutely awful how dismissive people can be of women's health. I've contacted Nuffield near me to see if they can do HCG test or even prescribe progesterone but I doubt it without having to do a bunch of other expensive tests first.

I'm drinking pure pomegranate juice every day and going to introduce bone broth also as I've heard that's good for pregnancy in general.

Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy ❤️

@leanne2105

i hope your Gp continues to support you and you get your rainbow ending very very soon 🌈🌈🌈

@Ontheflipside_ thank you!
it is really hard and I found it quite lonely the first trimester but I know it’s easier said than done and I didn’t manage it myself but try and stay positive. There’s every reason it’s all going to work out and your lining is already preparing itself and getting thicker!
hope they come back to you with some good next steps! i know some private scanning places do HCG testing as well. Xx
