I am 21 weeks pregnant with a posterior placenta I haven't felt any movements as of yet! This is my first baby aswell I know midwife's tell you to not be worried until after 24 weeks but I thought I might have felt more flutters than I do especially where my placenta is. Just want to know when people starting feeling kicks and when they feel like! I had my 20'weeks scan last week and she was moving around and there are no concerns but just want to know what I am looking out for ☺️

I'm 22 weeks and didn't feel anything until 21 weeks, at the start I didn't know if it was bubbles in my tummy from gas or the baby it was very light and I couldn't differentiate it but she has gotten stronger even in the space of a week and now there is no mistaken it for anything else, hospital told me though that might not feel anything up until as late as 26 weeks so I wouldn't worry x

I’m 22 weeks I started to feel movement within the 21weeks!
I never got/still don’t get the ‘flutter’ but more like a a feeling of them turning and thumps/pokes in the lower stomach! The more often I felt it the more I knew it was little ones movements! Some days stronger than others.
im sure it won’t be much longer now! Xx

JRTfan · 18/02/2024 19:21

I have an anterior placenta so didn't expect to feel anything until later. Had the odd questionable flutter occasionally from about 17 weeks and saw baby kicking and moving at 21 weeks on scan but couldn't feel it..however I'm 22 weeks now and the last few days have felt definite kicks and movements. Just suddenly started happening..I think because they are still small at this stage they can 'hide' easily and have a lot of space to move about.
I'm sure it won't be long. My friend had a posterior placenta and didnt feel anything at all until 23 weeks when he just started kicking all the time!

cbbo · 18/02/2024 19:37

24 weeks till I felt anything!

Up until 26 weeks? Is that with an anterior placenta? I am hoping to feel something then in the next week or so! X

Okay that's a bit more reassuring knowing that your friend also had a posterior placenta and it's not just me ( which I know isn't just me and there is more women out there )
I don't know why I just thought after 20 weeks I would have felt more flutters but haven't and just worried me a bit

Lots of people with a posterior placenta don't feel movements until the baby is much bigger around 20+ weeks but it's easier on subsequent pregnancies as you know what you're looking for.

Early movements will feel like gas bubbles or small vibrations very low down, down in the knicker line. I think many people expect larger movements up near the belly button. It's not until 28+ you feel them frequently that high up.

Awh okay! I feel flutters lower in my belly but not all the time. I am hoping I will feel it more soon, it's hard not knowing what to look out for or feel x

The flutters are your baby and because they're so small you'll be lucky to feel them every day at this point but they do get more and more frequent and more and more pronounced. This is my fourth pregnancy and I wouldn't say I got a hard 'proper' kick until 25 weeks!

Flowerfairie · 18/02/2024 22:33

24 weeks and a normally placed placenta. It’s all fine.

Do you have a posterior placenta? Thank you I am so glad I asked on here sometimes it's better to hear other peoples experiences than ask a midwife and especially if she's never had kids a guessing game really x

With both pregnancies started at 8/9 weeks. Hard to describe but the close at thing is like holding a bag of worms/snake that sensation for me..not flutters at all 😂 more aggressive for me. My midwife said it varies and some women are more aware of internal happenings which is true for me as I have IBS I have been hyper aware of sensations.
Totally normal not to feel anything until 24weeks.

Anterior placenta with first and 2nd they think posterior but waiting for 20weeks scan to confirm.

Flowerfairie · 19/02/2024 09:12

@MixedCouple 8 weeks! Baby is size of a a raspberry. Buried deep within your body. It cannot kick or even really move. You’re not feeling a baby at 8 weeks. Probably feeling uterus stretching etc

You felt your baby kick at 8/9 weeks?????

@Chelseaaaaa yes it is mad but was confirmed at 12 week scan. I felt the same sensation. As DS was asleep I had to do star jumps and once I stopped i felt it. And the midwife started to scan and saw DS flipping out. So it was confirmed in real time.
As the Midwife said some people more sensitive to whats happening inside and it was confirmed, not all in my head 😂

At 8 weeks the little one can move about and move their little stubby arms and legs.
This time at my 12 week scan the baby was jumping on my bladder and I felt that in real time.

I found out last pregnany that some people can actually feel food digestion and it moving through the intestines. Just a weird anomoly.

restingrichface · 19/02/2024 11:28

Yes I've always had posterior placentas.

Okay the fact you didn't feel any kicks until 25 weeks has eased me a bit, did you get flutters before the kick?

Yes, flutters and wormy wriggling feelings since about 14 weeks with all of mine but 'kicks' are just movements. Even now at 28 weeks my kicks are more of him tumbling around in there rather than strategic big movements.

I think you're expecting too much because of the way people have talked about kicks etc but you'll find midwives speak only of movements.

It's the unknown that's all I worry about so
Many people constantly worry me and because this my first time I don't know what to expect so I just wanted to ask peoples opinion on when they felt something.

I just thought that now I passed my 20 weeks and the baby is more bigger I would feel more flutters than anything wasn't really expecting massive kicks
