My diet has been pretty rubbish from the beginning. First 12 weeks I ate nothing but beige carbs. I'm slowly adding in fruit now but feel like it's still quite rubbish. Are there any alternatives similar to what I'm eating that could be healthier ?
Pregnancy has created quite alot of food aversions for me
Here's a run down from past 3 days

Sunday:
Small portion of carrot, 2 or 3 sprouts with roast potato and chicken
Pear & apple from a tin
Couple biscuits and tea
Half bag kettle share crisps
Yogurt and oats
More crackers And cheese
Dominos personal pizza
Cornetto

monday:
Ham cheese pastry and few goujons Banana
Glass of smoothie
Probiotic yogurt
Crackers and cheese
Pringles small tub
Pizza personal size
Toast
Apple
Cornetto
Small portion Blueberries/ raspberries
Was ready tired past 2 days couldn't cook dinner

today :
Crackers cheese 12 Crackers 4 dairylea
Nui ice cream
Heinz chicken soup
Glass smoothie
Yogurt with porridge mixed in
Apple
Pear ( starting eating whole with skin) as opposed to tin now
1 greggs sausage roll
Half a donut
For evening dinner it's going to be carbonara chciken breast with carbonara pasta ( I admit pasta is a ready meal ) but will be having green beans and peas with it
And I'll have some blueberries and raspberries before bed

Any healthier suggestions? I keep stressing out that my diet is affecting baby but I'm suffering from exhaustion that just won't seem to ease

Pregnancy Is a funny time for food. And I think we’re hard wired to feel so much guilt about what we eat anyway. It’s early days still, just eat what you can, add some nutrition in where you can, and try not to feel guilty. If you can eat what you’re eating but also get up to 5 fruit and veg a day maybe you’ll feel better. Keep testing your food aversions and that’s all you can do, no point making yourself stressed and sick, that’s no good to anyone.

Obviously there’s quite a bit of processed food here but there’s also fruit and veg. Don’t stress.
One thing you can try is think about what you’re craving and if there’s a healthier alternative. For example would a glass of milk or a portion of Greek yoghurt work in place of ice cream. Would an Apple with some honey work as well as some other sweet dessert? But honestly just try to get through, get some sleep, and then you can eat better when you feel better.

I mean it's better than mine! 😅 As a sweet treat though, I have been having one of those fibre brownies that are only 90 calories, pop in microwave for 30 secs, with one spoonful of ice cream. Really satisfies the need for dessert but is under 200 calories! And gets some fibre in!

@NightSkyWanderer Sounds like my diet when I can be bothered to eat. I’ve started buying smoothies and juices to get the fruit and veg in me that way

NightSkyWanderer · 13/02/2024 17:29

@missmoosh it's a definite improvement compared to what my diet was like first 14 or 15 weeks .
I definitely need to get more fibre In.
It's taken me up until now to be able to stomach any veg. All I've seemed to want is carbs.
That does sound tasty. I've only recently stated craving sugary treats the past few weeks . It's so hard to eat perfectly even tho I know I should be

@NightSkyWanderer hahaa I know the feeling I try to add one vegetable in to dinner, but taken to hiding it within the food so I don't know it's there! Thankfully I have been craving fruit the past couple weeks. But other than that my diet is abysmal, all takeaway and unhealthy carbs etc but I have hyperemisis, so my view is, if it stays down its going in!

I think you probably need the carbs - eating for two. I remember eating baked potatoes for breakfast when I was pregnant. Mumsnet is weird about carbs but I don't see the problem. You could go for wholemeal toast, to get more fibre.
