Risks after C section and ectopic pregnancy

I had a C section with my first, then several years later a second pregnancy which turned out to be ectopic and ended in having one tube removed. The other tube is fine.
I so want to have a second child but terrified to fall pregnant again. It seems like it would be risky after 2 surgeries, and then I'd have another C section (not keen on VBAC).
Has anyone been in a similar situation and had a happy ending? I need some hope.

I have. I had a C-section, ectopic with tube removal, then had the other tube removed because I had a hydrosalpinx — but (after IVF because no tubes) I then had a lovely beautiful baby boy. He was delivered by C-section. But, if it weren’t for the fact that loads of scar tissue and adhesions from the first section was discovered during the surgery to remove the ectopic, I think the doctors would have supported a Vbac if I’d wanted one. I was also last in on the elective C-section list for my day (they prioritise the ones they think might be complicated).

Your history shouldn’t prevent you from having a straightforward pregnancy and delivery. Wishing you all the best 💐

That all sounds so hard but so lovely that you were able to have your DC in the end Flowers
It's the possibility of scar tissue/adhesions that worry me, I just feel sort of "damaged" by everything that's happened, and like there are so many things that could go wrong now.
But it's reassuring to hear it's possible.

@ReetPetity Can I ask if you had any complications during the pregnancy at all?

@ReetPetity Can I ask if you had any complications during the pregnancy at all?

We did; but it’s because I have an underlying condition. I have a form of sticky blood, which I think may be responsible for the adhesions, but also means I have issues with blood flow to the placenta. It’s relatively rare from what I understand, but both my successful pregnancies were high risk and needed to be delivered at 37 weeks.

It wasn’t because of the adhesions though, or the fact I’d had surgery.

I understand your comment about feeling damaged. I felt the same, it’s a normal response to something scary happening. I had therapy following the ectopic to help me work through everything. It was so helpful in terms of my relationship to my body afterwards.

Did you have ultrasound / HSG to make sure there is no scar tissue to block or prevent implantation. That can happen.

Thanks for answering @ReetPetity, that's good to know that the adhesions didn't affect anything.

@MixedCouple No, nothing like that yet, though I'm trying to get an appointment to ask about all that.
