Dog suddenly obsessed with me

I'm after a bit of advice, our dog who's 2 has humped on and off but nothing major in my pregnancy. He's just come back from a couple nights stay in kennels and since he's been back he's trying to non stop hump me (no one else) I'm 31 weeks pregnant this week, he's also constantly trying to smell me. On top of this he will just sit next to me and stare at me and whine for hours on end. This isn't like him I'm wondering if all of a sudden he's realised I'm pregnant after he's been away. It's honestly driving me up the wall as I'm constantly trying to get him down (he's a big boy he's 35kg), or move him into a seperate room (we have stair gates) and correct his behaviour and up till this point been an angel on most occasions, normally if he humps at all you tell him no and move him and he stops but he's insatiable. If I hadn't felt baby much at all today I'd of thought something was wrong with baby due to his actions but baby has been active.

Any advice given?

Hormones. Has he been neutered?

@Prawncow he's not neutered we were toying with the idea, due to the humping but we've read online it's not always solved via neutering.

I think if it’s gone on long enough it can become behavioural rather than hormone driven but in this case it sounds like he’s upped the humping because of your pregnancy so it does sound like a hormonal reaction. Have a think about it and talk to your vet. You can try to manage the behaviour with positive reinforcement instead/as well.

@Bethpaigeox hey, I work with dogs and am currently 32 weeks with second baby. Most of them do work out you are pregnant and can react different. A lot of them sniff me, I once had one pee on me when I wasn't far from labour, thought my waters broke!🤣 I have one who has become very protective of me and wants noone near me. As you haven't got him neutered his hormones may well be driving him insane, as he can smell how intense your hormones are right now. Neutering almost always helps with humping, if done quick enough. If left for years it does unfortunately become a learnt behaviour but it is then easier to train out of them, when the hormones are gone. Some dogs genuinely don't seem to have control over their hormones when they're unneutered, especially with no relief from the hormones as dogs don't tend to have regular sex!
